Island Changes

Since we're doing Google earth shots, here's an island close to home (mine :-) ) that has changed since we were kids. Come to think of it Pagan changed too.

Rufus and his Carabao

A neighbor who Rufus didn't like very much came over to his hut in Mangilao one day. The neighbor asked Rufus if he could borrow his carabao. Rufus not wanting to lend his carabao to the neighbor he didn't like told him, "I would love to loan you my carabao but only yesterday my brother came from Tamuning to use it to carry his mangos to the market in Hagåtña. The carabao sadly is not here."

The neighbor was disappointed. But he thanked Rufus and began to walk away.

Just as he got a few steps away, Rufus' carabao, which was behind his hut all the time, let out a trembling snort.

The neighbor turned to Rufus and said, "I thought you told me that your carabao was not here.

Rufus turned to the neighbor and said, "My friend, who are you going to believe? Me or the carabao?

Space...The Final Frontier

In a view from the International Space Station facing north, the green glow of aurora borealis stretches over the Gulf of Alaska. The photograph was taken by a crew member of space shuttle Endeavour, which left the station Monday morning. The circular cloud pattern below the lights indicates a low pressure area.

This is first for Alaska--got to see the Aurora from a different perspective...

Speaking of Goat Meat

In searching my memory banks I'm having a hard time remembering any dairy farms or cattle ranches on the island. What I do recall is my parents later talking about the scarcity of beef and how we got our red meat fix via New Zealand lamb. If I'm right, milk was also in short supply and usually came in the powdered variety. This could all be speculation on my part (or the result of a big belly) so if someone could help me out here...

Enjoy it while you can folks because according to a new study this may be the last reunion many of us will be able to FIND. Scientists have discovered that having a big belly in your 40's boosts ones risk of having dementia later on in life. My doggy likes it when I rub his belly.

Fiesta Menu

This is what I have for the menu so far; bbq chicken, ribs, red rice, potato salad, and chicken kelaguen. This is what I will be doing and if anyone has any suggestions or would like to make something just chime in. Nothing low fat or low carb, or low anything here just some good ol fiesta fare. Shoot now I gotta go eat something I made myself hungry!

Formal Night

After "Old School" Houli Rags Vegas Baby Contest we should have a Formal. And what more fitting for an Island Formal than the Filipino tuxedo - the Barong. Remember those things? I use to hate when my Mom made me wear one. But you have to admit they sure were handy. A barong, some pants, throw in some leather sandals and BAM - fit for any occasion.

Synchronicity is simply defined as a meaningful coincidence. Like deja vu, it is a phenomenon most of us have had at one time or another. In the interest of science I think we should share our synchronistic experiences with the group. Anyone? Ric?

Vegas Baby Fiesta Goat Grill'n Suite Reserved

Okay gang.
Matt, Bonita (sp Chk ?), and Joanna have the suite. Now it is an extra (over the cost of what they would pay for thier other room) $500 + 9% tax + the cost of the fiesta food. When Matt, Joanna and Kelly have the total of the food, we need to send in the funds (Jonny's case that would be a large stone wheel looking money thing used in the islands). We can add it to the HELP fund, put it on the check memo, HELP or FIESTA. I will receipt via email and keep a public running of the total in each fund.
