These are the last days spoken of in the Book of The Revelation.
Jesus Christ is soon coming to take away His bride... to rapture the Christian Church.
Whether you believe it or not...
It is written. Are you ready?
You can be... It's not too late.

Please don't get left behind friends...

Hey Dave,
just out of curiosity what's going to happen to the Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, Animists, Shintus, Naturalists, Rastafarians, Zoro Astrians etc. that have led righteous lives?
I guess that's one aspect of Christianity that has always befuddled me. On the one had we're told to love one another & to live by the golden rule. But then we are to believe that unless everyone shares the same religious views as us they and their families are doomed to a most heinous end game. Literally wrath of God type stuff. But at the same time God loves us, ALL of us. There's a certain incongruity here that I find myself grappling with over time.
And is there a particular sect of the Christian church that is more in favor with God than another? Protestant or Catholic? The reason I ask this is down here in this neck of the woods as you might guess there is a decidedly Baptist bent and to hear some of them tell it if you aren't Baptist then you're going to Hell for sure too. Some Protestant sects look down on Catholicism. Evangelicals are often derisive of Unitarians. Christian Scientists are very often subject to open ridicule from all ends of the spectrum of Christian churches. This is actually quite peculiar when one sees that the teachings of Christian Science are in fact fundamentally Christian, i.e.love one another, the body is the temple and healing through Christ. And on it goes. This seems to narrow the field of the elect considerably.
So am I to understand that a Tibetan Monk who has spent his entire existence in abject poverty and abstinence in service to his beliefs and has never harmed so much as a fly will be condemned to eternal damnation on the basis of his non Christian beliefs?
Did Mahatma Gandhi go to hell because of his non Christian beliefs? I hope not because that's no place for a nice guy like him.

Doug, I am not going to answer for Dave, but am just putting in here.

The New Tesament has Jesus saying that only through Him can you enter into the Kingdom of Heaven (not in those exact words of course, but close I'm sure).

Also, as a lot Christains believe, we here on this earth are not the ones that are to judge others as to where they will or will not go after they leave this physical life, but Jesus will be the sole judge.

Even though I was not speaking for Dave, I do happen to agree with him.

To findah the anssah glass-hoppah, you mustah read and undah standah John 3:16,17 and Romans 10:13. It is very very simple. The key to eternal life is in God's Word, the Bible. Maybe hard to comprehend, but easy to believe... if only you will.

John 3:16...Powerful stuff!

Like you said Dave, the key is in the understanding. My experience has taught me that my feeble human mind is incapable of understanding the Mind of God. Therefor, if the Bible was the actual Word of God, how could I as a mere human comprehend its TRUE meaning. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not comfortable placing myself on that Level. Instead, I'm perfectly content to just stand in awe before it.

"Why do you call Me good? No one is good but God alone." - LUKE 18:19

"The Tao that can be trodden is not the enduring and unchanging Tao." - TAO TE CHING

Hey, I not even going to make any comments on the age old ideas of having an imaginary friend who tells us what to do and punishes us when we don't. Any way god and gods seem to have been a mojor factor in all cultures. There is a professor up at University of Penn. who has isolated what he thinks is the "god gene" in people who believe in god or something like that. Some people don't have this gene.

Eternal life is a gift from God.
All we can do as humans, is accept that gift... or reject it. If it turns out not to be real, we've lost nothing. If when we die we find it to be true and we've rejected it, we lose everything. Think of it as an (eternal) life insurance policy. The best part about it is, the premiums are free. The price has already been paid by God's Son, upon the cross.

Dave, you and I will know each other for eternity! Good deal!

Religions have no monopoly on intolerance. Have you been to a university lately? Have you heard about the "fairness doctrine"? Intolerance of ideas other than liberal ideas is in evidence everywhere. The very term "political correctness" is itself intolerant.

Doug said...

I can't speak for anyone else's university experience but where I went everyone's opinion was openly derided, "conservative" or "liberal". You had your position and it was up to you defend it, not unlike a game of bull in the ring.
Your feeling that universities can tend toward the liberal politically does have validity. Unless of course the university to which you refer would be a Bob Jones, Liberty, Baylor, Texas Christian or a host of other privately funded institutions where opposing thought is not so highly revered.
