I seem to remember this material being covered here on the blog in previous posts and comments.
Is there anyone out there who still doubts its reality?
According our president, only the fringe at the center of the Tea Party think he's a socialist.
Is there anyone who DOESN'T think he's a socialist? I'd really like to hear about that.
Well which is it, are they the center or the fringe?
I ask for this distinction because some of those associated with the Tea Party are certified nut jobs. Obama has implied this and I think he's right. And they're ignorant to boot. They could no more accurately define and critique modern day Socialism than the Man in the Moon. They have an agenda that has less to do with politics and more to do with something else.
Much as I share your disdain for what seems to be the Feds insatiable appetite for thought control, as long as the "center" Tea Party is so infested with this inbred spawn of mouth breathing knuckle draggers I would not be proud to associate myself with their ideology.
Their emergence has contributed to a grievous dumbing down of public debate. Substitute rhetoric and exchange of ideas for threats of violence and exchange of prejudice, innuendo and unfounded insult.
To your question...measured by his policies enacted the first year, yep he's a Socialist. Only not a very good one. Ask Wall Street & the Banking Industry what they think of his fiscal policy. If they were to be honest they would have to answer that his first year has been decidedly capitalist. Much to their profit.
Sadly, nothing has changed. It will be to what remains of the middle class to fill the government tit that feeds those above them and below.
Of course that's just my opinion I could be wrong.
Not that I've been to every tea party event but. . . who are theese "nut jobs" you speak of? Got names?

Sorry but I didn't get the name of the fella' that had an A$-15 slung over his shoulder. Or the one with the sign that had the photo with Obama & German Death camp victims. Or the self gratifying bunch that put an empty coffin on the front lawn of Missouri Rep. Russ Carnahan complete with threatening letter to his family. Or the ones that spit on Rep Emmanuel Cleaver. Or the ones that cut the gas line at the home of the brother of the US Rep from Virginia. the one's that yell "Liar", "Baby Killer" etc. Should I go on?

As I said, I haven't been to every single event, but I didn't anything like that in DC on Sep 12 last year.
Some of these reports are simply made up. Some of these reports I simply don't believe - but there are certainly kooks "associated" with every movement. Have you heard of "Norman Leboon"? "Code Pink"? Bill Ayers? Now, those are some real knucklheads, no?
Well we can all believe what we'd like. In fact we usually do just that.
I've no doubt that there are those centered in this maelstrom that now passes for discourse that have the best interests of the Republic at heart. Good for them.
As to the others, well...
I'll be on a tropical island far far away...
