We've got to do something about these knuckleheads!

I could leave it at that but doing so to me seems to be dismissive and sophomoric.

This was certainly no shining moment in terms of politIcal discourse. It does however help to illustrate my earlier idea in part. Videos such as this foster a moronic caricature of America. One in which every issue or point seems to boil down to a Left/Right, Republican/Democrat, Liberal Conservative pissing match.
Everybody just choose a side and stick with it, Regardless of how shrill, offensive and bankrupt of thought the team.
God forbid that someone might engender a sober, reasoned thought with ideas from more than one side. No. Likely that person would be marginalized as being "elitist". Weak. Someone that reads books that don't have pictures and uses big words. Probably a Socialist/Facist/Commie/Homo. Throw a brick at him.

You want to know the main difference between that bunch in the video and the protestors of today? They all went home afterwards and had a nice latte or pinot grigio and called it a night. One gets the sense that there are those out there now who are seriously willing to take this thing to the next level.

So this is what we've come to. Where the rhetoric is in revolutionary terms. Where elected officials are routinely threatened and the actions of bellicose idiots are celebrated and recorded for posterity.
