Happy Fathers day to all the DC Dads raising their children.

I am thankful to President Obama speaking about fatherhood and the responsibilities that go with it. I wish him success in being the best father he can.

Unfortunately, I was unable raise my own daughter. My ex-wife and I divorced soon after my daughter was conceived. My ex-wife and I did have a very bitter divorce (yet what divorce is not bitter?), but fortunately we were friends prior to our marriage, and later regained our friendship after our divorce.

I keep a health relationship with my daughter. We see each other as often as we can. I envy all you daddies out there that are, or were, able to raise you daughter(s)! I missed that experience.

Ric, I have regrets... times I was away from my kids. as long as they know you love them with all your heart and soul and you'll always be there. I hope that's all that matters.

That is what matters Pat, the love between a father and their kids! When my daughter called me today to wish me a Happy Fathers Day…it made my year!

Its Fathers day so Kudos to us but also to all the single moms who are also the fathers at home.I'm sure there are plenty single dads as well so kudos to them as well.I had burgers and brats for my feast. We live across the street from the school and the ball park and we played ball after we feasted. It was good.Pitcher had a beer by his side.Pro ball should work that way.No score keeping just goofing around.I actually hit a few.

Pat, I thank you. But remember the job description I posted earlier. As much as a dad is needed, a mother can not be replaced. The greatest honor on this earth is to be the husband of the greatest mother on this planet. Fathers have a role to play, but are a fifth wheel to the mother of his children.

I like Confucius' Quote better: "The father who does not teach his son his duties is
equally guilty with the son who neglects them.

Mark, that is a nice saying, but I think the weight is on the father not the child. Children by nature rebel. Fathers have the duty to teach, but children will rebel.
I like Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart form it".
Thank you Mark, you do always have a perspective, I have missed. I would like to hear more from you.
