So the speaker, after the obligatory reference to Reagan says that there will not be one more government takeover of an American entity.
I presume he was referring to the health insurance industry. For the sake of discussion did anyone in the crowd ask the speaker where exactly in the proposed insurance reform legislation it is calling for government takeover?
As I understand it there may or may not be in the final bill a public (or government) option.
I may be missing something but there seems to be little serious discussion at present of the so called single payer option.
Invoking the ghost of Reagan as a champion of the people is somewhat questionable given his proclivity for busting that tried and true American entity we used to know as unionized labor.
So Monday Glen Beck, cited a study from "the university of oh I don't know" ( I am not making that up) that put the crowd at two million.
Why not go for broke here. As long as we're citing research or studies from the university of oh I don't know let's put the crowd at two billion. Yep, two billion. Says it right there in the study folks. From the university of oh I don't know.
What is known and does not require verification from the university of oh I don't know is that the esteemed Beck himself was no where to be found at this noble exercise in patriotic dissent.
Whatever, Doug. I was there and can tell you - first hand - that it was far more than the 80K RAC states. There were people overflowing on the streets and sidewalks back past the Washington Monument. We didn't have a permit for the mall so weren't in that nice grassy area in the middle. Many buses were still coming in at four after the event was basically over - traffic and road shutdowns caused by the volumes.
Whether you agree with the effort or not, doesn't it give you some concern that there was basically no reporting on this event? I've talked to people this week who didn't even know it had happened.

How do you know it was far more than 80K? Did you count them? People came from all over the country and you had who knows how many attended. It was a respectable crowd.
I was at a football game Labor Day evening and people came from all over North Florida & South Georgia and there were 83,000 in attendance. And we're not that good. And it was a work night.
Tell you what. I'll start having a problem with these events being as you say under reported when you start having a problem with the very same network that is openly promoting these events just throwing shit out there that has no real basis in fact.
C'mon Sean, you and I both know it never really happened. Photo shop can work wonders these days. Astro turf is a beautiful thing.

Sean, if it makes you feel any better I think Comedy Central covered your event.
And for the record, I never said 80,000. I quoted the DC fire chief who said the crowd was between 60k and 70k.

Really Dave? Maybe you guys should have photoshopped the National Indian museum into the 15 year old picture you first passed around as the event. Would have saved a lot of embarrassment.
I really don't see the need for inflating the attendance figures unless you feel doing so adds legitimacy to the movement.
What you really need is consistency in signage. I mean you've got one guy portraying Obama as Hitler, than another saying he's a socialist and still another saying he's a commie and still another saying he's a "oligarchist". That last one just may be a little above the skill level of your average mob. I mean which is it already? It's like a moving target.
It's friggin' confusing.
That's exactly what they want to happen.We live in a society of "news" and the other "news" caster's go on and on but,like what has been mentioned before,much of it is not real news coverage.Just blasted opinions which are often wrong.My former boss was a R.limbugger,so thru training at Xerox ,I had to endure it.Not anymore:)
