A call to action

Yesterday, March 21 2010 - a date which will live in infamy - the people of the United States were ruthlessly and deliberately attacked by the statist empire of Obama.

The People had consented to governing by the Congress and President and at the time of the attack were still in conversation with their representatives, looking for agreement in the continuation of limited power based on the Constitution. Indeed, one day before the signing of the attack on the People's liberty, tens of thousands gathered in Washington to petition against this intrusion.

It will be recorded that the distance between the limits defined in the constitution to the over-reaching power grab exhibited by this congress makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned years or even decades ago. During the intervening time, the statist conspirators have deliberately sought to deceive those of the People unburdened by income taxes with false statements of entitlement, wealth redistribution and expressions of "hope".

The attack yesterday on the freedom of self-determination has caused severe damage to the American way of life - free of government intervention and punitive control. In addition, Americans have been informed that this will serve as the platform for additional attacks on our freedom and independence.

Yesterday, the statists also launched an attack on educational freedom by nationalizing all student aid so as to maintain controls over who will and will not have funding for college.

The statists have, therefore, undertaken a brazen offensive extending throughout the People's way of life and undermining the limits placed on the congress through our consent to be governed.

As an American citizen who embraces the federalist government defined in our Constitution, I now summon you to take all measures in our defense.

Always we must remember the character of the onslaught against us. No matter how long it might take us to overcome the premeditated invasion on our privacy and liberty, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory.

I believe I correctly interpret the will of our founding fathers who - in no uncertain terms - laid out strict limits on the powers granted by the People to the judicial, legislative and - yes - executive branches of government. I assert that we must not only defend ourselves to the uttermost but must make very certain that this form of treachery shall never endanger us again.

Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that We the People, our liberty and our freedoms are in grave danger.

With confidence in my fellow patriots - with the unbounded determination of our free people - we will gain the inevitable triumph - so help us God.

I ask that the free citizens of America declare that since the underhanded and unconstitutional power grab by the statists on Sunday, March 21, the consent of the governed has been rescinded. I call on Americans to cast those who no longer keep their oaths out of office through recalls, legal action and the casting of ballots and restore the power to govern to those who still respect our Constitution and way of life.

Interesting that you quote FDR here. I mean what with him being one of those pinko socialist New Deal Democrats and all.

The irony is not lost on me.

Drudge Report used the headline "A date which will live in Infirmary".

"...with the unbounded determination of our free people - we will gain the inevitable triumph - so help us God...."

This also I believe is from FDR's Declaration Of War.

I guess I can understand some people's uneasiness and displeasure over this drastic piece of legislation. However, some of the commentary I'm hearing today borders on the incendiary. I think it may be appropriate for some of us to step away from the ledge. It remains to be seen if this will EVER become reality. There are already 20 some court challenges to the thing lined up.

I think I was very diligent in urging only peaceful intervention, by legal means. I"m not advocating violence in any way.

It is a 're-imagining' of FDR's speech to both houses following Pearl Harbor.

Doug said...

Wasn't really referring to you specifically. I'm talking about those advocating anything from secession to revolt. It would be funny if it wasn't so not funny. Come November and then in two years you all will get your shot. Until then this thing will languish in the courts.

Sean, Well, I want to get the most for my contributions, so now that I don't have to worry about health care I will eat all the fat foods I want. So I went out and got crab legs to cook for dinner, will make boiled potatoes with lots of salt and butter ( butter to dip the legs into as well, fresh green beans just for color and two big pieces of Chocolate cake from Starbucks for desert. I already drank the extra grande coffee latte with lots of sugar. Sean my son is moving to NYC so if he is still there, I will hopefully end up near him in my old age to spend your state tax contributions as well. lol I hope I can wait till after dinner to eat that cake! Good thing I got two pieces. The only doom and gloom for me is the lack of a public option.

There is so much hidden and buried in this psycho-bill, that by the time it takes hold of our lives, it will be too late to reverse course. The damage is done before it even happens. Health care for all, bankruptcy for America. Better get in line now to see your doctor, before they quit or retire.

Sean said...

Dave, don't be so naive... He is "your doctor" no longer. He will be working for the government!

This will bankrupt no only the insurance industry, but also the rest of healthcare. After all, it is private insurance that is now covering the cost of medicare/medicade short payments. Once the private healthcare plans are replaced, where will the extra come from? no where. So, the hospitals and clinics will also become government run.

Tie this in with the changes to student loans, and what medical student will opt to pay their own tuition loans when they can just go into "community service" and be forgiven this debt?

Doug said...

"...This will bankrupt no only the insurance industry, but also the rest of healthcare..."

Wall Street does not concur. Aetna, Cigna, BC/BS up on average 3% on Friday.

Pat said...

Crab legs dipped in lemon, salted butter?
Juliet, I'm jealous. I made sloppy joes and cole slaw.
sean, aren't we already bankrupt? Doug's right. This bill will be argued in court for a long time. More tax payer money down the toilet. meantime people still get sick, still die because they don't get our basic human right as Americans....Health Care.

Sean said...

Pat, what would you say are our basic human responsibilities as Americans?

Or is it only rights and entitlements?

Sean said...

And, while we are at it, if there is, indeed, a right to healthcare then whose responsibility is it to provide it?

Pat said...

What would I say? our America has an obligation to care for our own. We care for so many others in so many countries and continents. Entitlements you say? Damn straight!

Sean said...

The federal government doesn't have any money of its own. It must take this from American citizens and businesses. So, you are saying that SOME Americans have the right to entitlement healthcare and OTHER Americans have the responsibility to provide it?

That sounds, well, decidedly UN-American to me.

Pat said...

You're paying Sean, one way or another. ER visits and now, court costs.

Sean said...

Just because some Americans are going to the ER for "free" healthcare doesn't justify making this an official entitlement and holding others accountable for funding it.

The feds have no power to force anyone to buy anything - health insurance included.

Pat said...

Yeah Sean, I'm un-American. My Dad, Uncles, friends, nephews all served for our country. Do you really think I'd be un-American?

Sean said...

I said the idea of requiring some Americans to pay for other American's healthcare is unAmerican.

You say that I am already paying for this because anyone can get treated at the emergency room and not pay for it. Well, people shoplift also, should we socialize this? People rent homes and don't pay for them, should the rest of us carry this? People default on credit cards and loans, should the rest of us pay for this?

The Democrats think so.

Insurance is a VOLUNTARY pooling of risk. This is not.

Pat said...

Sorry, I forgot my brother Robert. Love you bro.

Sean said...

American used to be the land of opportunity. Now it has become the land of entitlements.

Pat said...

hello Sean...we Do pay for shoplifters? Have you noticed that your eggs and makeup have gone up? (ok, maybe u haven't noticed makeup.:)

Pat said...

Sean, maybe we should concentrate our efforts on legalizing marijuana.
Might help mellow you out a bit.

Sean said...

But, to follow the fine example set by the Democrats...

We should enact "shopping reform" legislation. There are people who simply can't afford their eggs, or fancy sneakers, or flat screens. We must force everyone to pay into a shopping program whether they want or need these goods. We will create entitlements for those who can't join the shopping program because they can't afford it. Then we'll have the government set all the prices for eggs, sneakers and TV's so that greedy merchants do make "too much profit".

Would that about cover it?

Doug said...

Well you could say it's The Land Of Opportunity to get Entitlements. How's that for bipartisanship?

You know, I'm thinking what we need as a country is a good old fashioned crisis to bring us all together again. What have we got that could work? Hmmm...think....ponder.....weigh...dwell....ahh...
betcha' I know what it might could be.

Sean said...

Why bother to legalize anything? Just ignore the rules like congress and our treasury secretary.

Doug said...

That's my philosophy.

Sean said...

What's that, Doug?

Doug said...

Patsy,
I love sloppy Joes.

Doug said...

Sean,
it was an offhand response to bothering to legalize anything and to just ignore the rules.
Ignoring rules, and those that would impose them was one of the finest traditions of the rats of deans circle. Maybe we should have run for treasury secretary. Bet he has a good health plan.

Sean said...

gotta agree with that, Doug. Sloppy Joes are awesome - both the hamburger kind and the double decker, NJ ones:

Slice of rye bread topped with turkey topped with cole slaw topped with a slice of rye bread topped with pastrami topped with cole slaw topped with another slice of rye bread.

Doug said...

Oh the come together as a country thing? Google "Diego Garcia" when you get a minute.

Sean said...

but, really, that would be the day the Obama would launch an attack on Iran. Do you think there's any chance of that?

Sean said...

And, I see these articles have been around for years (2007 - Pending Attack!)

Doug said...

I think that there's more of a chance that the US would supply the bunker busters to Israel and let them do the wet work. And yes you are correct that this has been ongoing. And mostly posturing. The most recent delivery is en route. Problem is that every time we raise the ante Iran calls our bluff. Sooner or later we're going to be all in.
The crisis comes from Iran's response. They'll likely block the strait of hormuz. Gas could go to $6 a gallon. Every muslim in the mid and near east will be howling at the moon.
Your question as to whether Obama has the force of will to do this is a valid one. Who the hell knows. Perhaps an even better question would be does he have the force of will to prevent the Israeli's from doing it on their own.
That Benjamin whathisface guy does not play.

Certainly Dave has earned his retirement and medical care. I’m guessing a lot of the future recipients of this bill haven’t earned squat in comparison.

Ric Larson said...

Hey Juliet, you can move back home now. We’re being Europeanized. ;)

Pat said...

How do you know that Ric? Who's earned what?

Dave said...

The one big difference Juliet, is that most average American civilians here at home aren't getting their faces and arms and legs blown off in their daily struggle to survive. Tricare? Now that we all have tri-care, you'll see what a great benefit that really is. I'm pretty sure we've already been down this road before so I'll just leave it at that.. no hard feelings here..

And Pat, since you're cooking the joes, I'd like mine extra sloppy please..

Pat said...

Extra sloppy Joes for you David and Juliet, Dougie, Ric, Sean and Matt. :)...for hanging in here.

If you can't believe that all Americans have the "right" to basic, decent health care can't you even believe that as human beings we should care for each other? We send billions of aid to places like Haiti when there is a disaster, yet we have not been so compassionate to our own citizens. Every day I have to walk through my hospital's ER waiting room to go to the parking lot where my car is. It is full...every seat taken, mostly with people who don't have true "emergencies" but don't have insurance or the money to pay for a doctor...many are sicker than they would have been if they had gotten some basic care from a family doc. I put my eyes to the floor, and walk quickly through...it's shameful to me that we "care" for our fellow citizens in this way. I'm very happy and so are most of my coworkers that this bill passed...it's not perfect but it's a start to making some change to a truly broken system

juliet said...

Hahahah Dave what the health care bill implements is a far cry from Tricare. Without the public option this was a win win for the insurance companies. Ric I have written time and again that I wholeheartedly support Dave's career and all the benefits he now enjoys at the tax payers expense. I feel that the rest of productive America should get the same basic support. Health and access to affordable care is fundamental that's why the military and big business make it part of their employee package. I was looking at some of the top employers " Like Lincoln Labs" and they even offer elderly care for family members, why, because they know that they can't bog down those brilliant minds that work for them with worries about how mom or dad are getting through the day.
And as for people in the private sector not getting maimed on the job I bet Cindy can fill your in about that and what she sees on her way through the ER. Yes I agree with Cindy it is a fundamental position in a developed, civilized society that people should have the right to affordable health care. Anyway the numbers are just going to be too great to control a population with out it.

Sean said...

Cindy, the difference is that you are saying all Americans should "have" healthcare and I am saying that all Americans should have ample opportunity to earn a wage that would afford them healthcare. The very programs that are said to "help" lower income families are actually the force keeping their wages down. On the surface, this is said to help the families, but in reality it is just another subsidy for the businesses. Labor is a cost, it is reduced by entitlements and lack of tax burden. These are not helping.

juliet said...

Hey here is a great interactive graph that shows how the health care bill will help people. Check it out

Strange. I don't Married, with kids, works his ass off to pay for families needs, insured through employer. Nope, I don't see that on the NY Times list at all.

Is that because the impact to "those people" will be taxed more, serviced less and not even a thank from the rest of society. Indeed, "those people" are simply marked and deplored by the rest who will benefit from "the government's largess".

Pat said...

Sean....You "don't married"?

Sean said...

ha ha - you got it right with the "OLDER" part, but I've also got two very young dependents (5 and 8) who will be on my books for many years to come.

juliet said...

Sean I did not know you had kids, you never mentioned them. Well here is some good news for you. When they are college age and applying for scholarships and institutional aid/Grants/Loans/ Federal/Financial Aid they won't consider your savings as an asset because of your age.lol

Sean said...

Juliet, yes but they'll probably good this blog, see my political slant and deny the loans altogether. Remember school loans have also been nationalized by this administration.
