Jeff Jones' Version

I thought it might help fire some synapses if we could figure out whose house was whose. Sounds like Dr. Seuss! I realize many of the structures have changed but we should be able to figure it out. Some I think I remember correctly:

B=The old lady that hated kids
C= The Caraways K=Larsons M=Sicklers
D= The Jonese F=Tansys
E= The Copelands H=Bast

Jeff, I think you'll have to add more letters, there are more houses like the Kalbs and MacDonalds on the other side of the street from your Q,R,S,etc.

Desi, Ric, Sean, Dave, and Steve(Perdew and Other Larson's) were in S.Kalb's were accross the street from R. Jaquet's were in P. I called her Kelly, someone else called her Kim, lived accross from S, next to the Kalb's. Later than most of you the Panalla's lived in D(I think, mabey E). Was O the house we played football at? She didn't mind us playing football on her yard, just don't drink water out of her outside faucet. It was behind M where we were rolling down the cliff in a refridgerator box, I cracked the top of my head open, Dan Larson was sitting on my head as I screamed for him to get off me. He couldnt move, the way he was. Someone had to rescue us. I don't recall the name of the girl in W, but we taught her to show her love to her mom with only her middle finger. That was one of the worst beatings I ever heard, and still feel bad to this day. The Eldridge's lived two houses strieght up from P. The Eldrige gils made us get rid of Mildoo, our German Sheppard. Matt Kalb was the only person that could get close to him(outside of our family).

I forgot the bus stop. Some of you had a glass gallon jug cut in half, filled with "holy water". I was verry thirsty. I, for some reson, stayed home from school with the stomach flu the next day.

The old lady who hated kids lived in A. I remember the time I got my leg caught between the tire and frame of Dave's bike in front of her house. I was screaming like a little girl (apparently I did that a lot) when she came out and told me to keep it down. Dave not-so-politely told her to F-off. That made it all worth while.

Who lived in L? I remember they had a couple of bad-ass German shepherds, which meant their house never got egged.

Dr. Harry Owings, 2nd wife Cathleen and his son who was much older than all of us. The dogs were Valerie and Gruff. Gruff was all black and would run at me full speed and then stop dead in front of me.I think Valerie would have gladly sunk her teeth into any of us. My dogs never could get it that they were out sized and always tried to fight with them when the Owings walked them past our house. I guess King dog thought his cologne of seasoned dead toads crushed and baked on the road were enough to keep anything away.

Most of us had a very limited vocabulary in those days.

Thanks Dave, that put it in perspective enough for a blond to get. Limited vocab at that age? Hmmm I believe I'm much less vocalized with people now than then. I hope I've learned a little. (just a little) :)

Jeff did do his research. And Dave, you did yours too! Looking at this aerial topographical photo brings me back to the day! I miss those days.

The Jewell's lived next door to us (Kim and Kelly) and the Hagen's were next to them (Carl and Verna), then there was the pedophile (Dr. Over) next to them. I believe that takes us to the MacDonald's.

Wasn't this easier when we just went by our old house numbers? Who was Dr. Over Becky. I don't remember him. I remember the creep up the street in the apartments who liked to swing the girls around. Yuck.

Becki said...

We were #32. Dr. Over lived next door to the Hagens and was a certifiable pedophile. I know...so does Verna. My mom told me that he was eventually arrested (many years later). What a creep.

Becky was his name spelled Ober but pronounced like Over? And who lived next door to you on the side toward the Shooks?

Chestnuts.And Ron was as certifiable as they come.

And we were 24 not 32.

I remember the Os house. It was on the cusp. The alley/backtrail behind our house went straight up and turned into the field(coconut grove) and the house just passed Hagens was the one left when we made the right turn into the field before you got to Dougs.(Dan had made a kickass fort in the boonies in that stretch of land between the houses and the field). Some of the girls might remember hehehe.

Chestnuts...I think they moved up to Yigo and the one brother turned off his lights for good. Sad

The Chestnut parents were the ones that saved my life after a very close, near drowning of me at about 11 mos. old. I hope they weren't perves.
