Part One,Shut Up or Put Up!

I'll be the first to give props to the pres for signing off on offshore drilling. This was/is a big thing for conservatives . Part two will be where it leads us.

God's Grace
It is a shame but this message is very true. Hope you are all as blessed as I was by this story. I wonder how many people will delete this without reading it because of the title.

There once was a man named George Thomas, pastor in a small New England town. One Easter Sunday morning he came to the Church carrying a rusty, bent, old bird cage, and set it by the pulpit.

Eyebrows were raised and, as if in response, Pastor Thomas began to speak....

"I was walking through town yesterday when I saw a young boy coming toward me swinging this bird cage. On the bottom of the cage were three little wild birds, shivering with cold and fright.

I stopped the lad and asked, "What do you have there, son?"

"Just some old birds," came the reply.

"What are you going to do with them?" I asked.

"Take 'em home and have fun with 'em," he answered. "I'm gonna tease 'em and pull out their feathers to make 'em fight. I'm gonna have a real good time.."

"But you'll get tired of those birds sooner or later. What will you do then?"

"Oh, I got some cats," said the little boy. "They like birds. I'll take 'em to them."

The pastor was silent for a moment. "How much do you want for those birds, son?"

"Huh?? !!! Why, you don't want them birds, mister. They're just plain old field birds. They don't sing. They ain't even pretty!"

"How much?" the pastor asked again. The boy sized up the pastor as if he were crazy and said, "$10?"

The pastor reached in his pocket and took out a ten dollar bill. He placed it in the boy's hand. In a flash, the boy was gone. The pastor picked up the cage and gently carried it to the end of the alley where there was a tree and a grassy spot. Setting the cage down, he opened the door, and by softly tapping the bars persuaded the birds out, setting them free. Well, that explained the empty bird cage on the pulpit, and then the pastor began to tell this story:

One day Satan and Jesus were having a conversation. Satan had just come from the Garden of Eden, and he was gloating and boasting. "Yes, sir, I just caught a world full of people down there. Set me a trap, used bait I knew they couldn't resist. Got 'em all!"

"What are you going to do with them?" Jesus asked.

Satan replied, "Oh, I'm gonna have fun! I'm gonna teach them how to marry and divorce each other, how to hate and abuse each other, how to drink and smoke and curse. I'm gonna teach them how to invent guns and bombs and kill each other.
I'm really gonna have fun!"

"And what will you do when you are done with them?" Jesus asked.

"Oh, I'll kill 'em," Satan glared proudly.

"How much do you want for them?" Jesus asked.

"Oh, you don't want those people. They ain't no good. Why, you'll take them and they'll just hate you. They'll spit on you, curse you and kill you. You don't want those people!!"

"How much? He asked again.

Satan looked at Jesus and sneered, "All your blood, tears and your life."

Jesus said, "DONE!" Then He paid the price.

The pastor picked up the cage and walked from the pulpit.

Note: Isn't it funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell? Isn't it funny how someone can say "I believe in God" but still follow Satan.
Isn't it funny how you can send a thousand jokes through
e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start
sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice
about sharing? Isn't it funny how when you go to forward
this message, you will not send it to many on your address
list because you're not sure what they believe, or what
they will think of you for sending it to them? Isn't it
funny how we can be more worried about what other people
think of us than what God thinks of us?

OOps I cut and pasted that from an email I received.

Well I'm not sure what the above posts have to do w/Obama opening up large areas of the Atlantic shelf to drilling but they were provocative nonetheless.
At any rate, there are several things Obama has done in his first year that one would think would have gotten widespread approval from those that call themselves conservative.
The conservative think tank The American Enterprise Institute has stated that Obama has handled the stimulus and bailout exactly as what would be considered prudent and appropriate.
The number of Drone attacks on Al Qaeda and the associated killing and capture of higher ranking operatives is significantly higher than under Bush. To say nothing of the increased pressure on Pakistan to root these dickwads out of their crap filled holes and flush them out into daylight.
None other than Dick Cheney has praised Obama for his Afghanistan policy.
I'm not rah rah'ing for the new guy. Far from it actually.
Just trying to make the distinction that there is more to things than the simplistic sound bites we are being fed by a biased, agenda driven opposition. From both sides.
More drilling does not translate to more oil. At least not any time soon. We could double the output of oil and it would make little difference in the price of gas. There's an over supply of oil as it is now. The price of oil (and gas) is largely being influenced by the lack of refinery capacity and the trading of oil and gasoline futures in the commodities market.
Increased drilling is Fools Gold. Let's call it for what it is. An attempt by the current administration to find some way, any way, to get the private sector spending and hiring.

Hey Dougie, Speak Blonde for Gods sake. I went to college, for a bit...not enough to get a well paying job and certainly not enough to understand half the shit you spew. I still love you though. :)

If you look back on the blog Doug you will see that that those of us that call ourselves conservative, lamented the lack of refining capability in our country. I think most people recognize that you can have all the oil on hand in the world but need a way to turn it into gas. While I support BO's decision to allow the offshore drilling, I only hope that he will also support new refineries and encourage those in his party to pave the way for new construction. Or is it just another industry to nationalize? Control and ration? Not trying to pick a fight but to use your words,"just saying". Peace!

Patsy,
I've always been full of shit. You know that. And ditto.
Matt,
I'm not trying to pick a fight either. Too bad that the siting and building of refineries is a state & municipal issue largely outside the realm of the Fed.
Everyone wants cheap gas and nobody wants a refinery in their backyard.

True Doug but the fed puts so many stipulations through the EPA that a lot of oil companies won't/can't comply. I hope the feds wake up a little and make it easier for the oil companies to do buisness here. As it sits now it's just to easy and cheap to import our oil. It is a national security issue. And both parties are responsible. If BO means what he says then we'll see some real change. Thats why wait for part two. My gut tells me that if the fed controls the oil fields it makes it easier to ram the alternative energies down our throats like they did healthcare. Control it, ration it to the point you gotta have a battery car.But we'll see. I'm gonna try to think positive.
