I would expect nothing less from Rod! I will be in Vegas next week for vacation and will be on the lookout for a perfectly inappropriate (DRL...note the spelling) spot to advertise DC! But I can assure you, Vegas will not be the same without you all!

Every time I go to West Yellowstone, Montana, I try to do some genealogy research. Our grandfather, Gustaf Larson who came from Sweden back in the late 1930's or early 1940's was an illegal card dealer at the Covered Wagon Hotel at West Yellowstone, Montana back in the day. They called him 'old Gus'. Thats about all I know about him, except for the fact that when he arrived in the US of A, he was a Bengston, but changed his name to Larson. Know one quite knows why? DRL, we have a lot of family history behind all these photos!

Joanna, I misspelled Bengston, it is Bengsston (my grandfathers former last name).

I know very little about my biological fathers (Dick Larson) family. I was fortunate enough to meet my biologicals fathers sister (Aunt Cookie) a few years ago, and she confirmed my findings.

All I know is that my grandfather Larson (Bengsston) came over from Sweden in the early part of the century. He changed his name from Bensstone to Larson when he set foot in the USA (reason, unkonwn)? He ended up in Montana as a card dealer and was married to my grandmother (Helen Larson) whom died at the age of 43 and is at enteral rest in Elko, Nevada.

My Grandfather came from Carlstedt, Sweden (sp? I have a copy of his birth certificate, but it is written in Swede). Still doing some on-line research in his home town.

My grandmother Helen is another mystery, still working on that!

The research has been fun.

Ric, I am not much into genealogy (I used the ABC check at the top, who ever put it there Becki will love you forever). I know little about the Larson part of the family, I know much more of the Ghormley side.

Ric Larson said...

OK DRL, where did the Ghormelys come from? Irish and Danish decent is all I know?

I am not a Perdew by blood (but feel that I should be), and feel closer to them as family and know more about them than the Larson or Ghormely side of our biological family.

Oh, and may I add, I think we all belong to the Dean's Circle family!

I was asked by someone where each picture was taken.

1. West entrance to Yellowstone Park. (West Yellowstone, Mt.) Notice my girls pointing to the "Traveling DC T-Shirt.
2. Can't remember.
3. The Montana Territorial Prison.
4. A small refurbished ghost town.
5. Grant-Kohrs Ranch. A Ranch from the 1800's that has been restored, as it was for the last owners. Now run by the parks service. She was the one who ran the chuck wagon.

The DC T-Shirt toured western Montana and part of Wyoming.

Ric, Ghormley is an interesting bunch. Sometime when you visit, Grandma has a large book of the family history. We were ether horse thieves or royalty. No surprise there. My name "David Rex Larson" means, "Blessed King Larson". But our great grandfather Ghormley ran a freight company (team horses) that delivered the logs to the Old Faithful lodge, and the lodge at Flag ranch, Yellowstone park. He was also influential in the Upper Mesa Falls resort outside of Island Park, Id.
I enjoy finding out about the past, I know Joanna is related to some important figures of the past. Maybe we should start a post that has to do with "whee the Dean's Circle brats came from".

DRL, all of this I never knew! Intresting stuff you have just laid out to me about our family history!

Joanna, your family history....
