stove finally kicked the bucket...:)

Have a really old stove that was built right into this house, I'm guessing like 50 or more years ago. Mom made many a turkey in that oven. now, only 2 burners work and the large one only goes on high or off. It's so old, we found out no one carries 26 1/2" width stoves anymore. We've been calling around no luck. Any suggestions anyone?...I guess I can live live with 2 burners and I'm trying to look on the bright side....At least I have an excuse now when dinner is burned. :)

Be a good American. Stimulate the economy. Buy a new stove. I think you got your moneys worth out of that one.

See Pat, if we were neighbors, I could bring my biggest hammer over and fix that old stove for you.

Hey I saw on the news that JCPenny or Sears, anyway one of the big chains would let you buy and appliance and start making payments on it the following year. You would thing that with all the houses getting repossessed there would be a chance to buy an almost new second hand stove. I mean do people really cook any more. I bet you could find a used one that was never used.

Funny Doug. I wanted to use the hammer, but that old lady (stove) has been good to me...and my mom. TY Juliet, but the problem is, the newer stoves are wider. Believe me, I've been trying to find a littiler, older stove. Hey, I've still got a grill.
Juliet we went to a yard sale Sat. and the stove was like new. some other people had already claimed it. It was too big anyway. Anyway will keep lookin!

You know the German stoves are more narrow. I used to have a GE gas range that was narrow like the German ones when I lived up in Korea. Is it one of those units that don't really have sides and a back but just insulation to fit into the wall? My mom had one of those. We ended up getting a new range that was higher than counter and I think it extends out a bit from the front. But we decided it was well worth it because it just was new and had two ovens. Really great if you want to do a cake and a roast. Even if it didn't fit correctly it still was new and modern. She was switching from gas to electric and we had to add a new electric line to handle the watts. Some thing to think about if you are switching over. I use a locally made gas range here. The oven has one temperature "Burn."

I bought a bosch diswasher several years ago, still runs great. Although it's not a stove, it does get hot enough inside to steam your vegetables..

Dave, don't you know that if she cooks it makes you the dishwasher?
