Congratulations to Cindy on her big new promotion. Not sure if she wanted this made public but then what the hell are brothers for if not for letting out your secrets. Nice work Sis.
Thanks Little Brother and friends. After doing the same job(med tech) for 29 years I'm making another big change in my life. Another part of my mid-life reinvention!! I've taken a new position in the same hospital system I work for as an Infection Control Practitioner (a fancy title for mostly being the hand-washing police). The position is most often filled with people with nursing backgrounds but they decided they wanted to diversify and add someone with a microbiology background. It means more money, more responsibility, dealing with lots of people like patients, doctors, administrators (instead of just specimens in the lab). I will have to attend meetings, conferences out of town, take classes and within 3 years get a national certification in Infection Control (by taking an exam). It's exciting but also very scary after doing the same job for so long. I've had to invest in a new wardrobe after only having to wear scrubs all this time but I've also lost 30 lbs since the reunion and as Becky can confirm shopping is never a sacrifice for me..lol. I do wish we could all go out and celibrate, yes I'd buy, but I'd make you all promise that there would be no talking politics!!!
Where's the fun in that? Seriously Cindy I always thought you were the smartest one of the bunch. While the rest of us were out devising newer and ever more devious means of maiming ourselves and others you always had your shit together.
