Imax AND Digital 3D?! WTF! Remember when it was a big deal when they came out with Dolby Stereo. Beowulf is one of them not really animated not really film type movies that kind of freak me out. When the special effects are the main draw of the movie line you can be sure the story line/plot will leave a lot to be desired. Although...seeing a 20 ft tall nude Angelina can't be all bad.
I agree that big effects usually equals bad story line. However, I'm hoping this won't be the case here. The flick has a couple things going for it; 1) Zemeckis - his work on Polar Express was incredible. 2) The story has had almost 2000 years to get the bugs worked out.
The verdict is in. It's good, very good. But also exhausting, very exhausting (the 3D version anyway). 2 hours of pure optical illusion is almost more than the brain can handle. Other than that I would highly recommend it. Lots of hidden meaning. I can see why Tolkien found it a great source of inspiration.

Let me know how it is.I'll probably have to go see this cause the hubbie has a "thing" for Angelina.
