i-pods

Teresa just got an i-pod for a birthday gift. (I was just informed walkmans are out dated...hmmm..where have I been for the past 15 years?). With our combined computer knowledge we were able to down load songs to it. Most of the songs we down loaded were songs of the '70's. One song was "Seasons in the Sun" . I asked her to down load it. It reminded me of Guam, plus it was the song that was playing in my car cassette player when my truck almost went off an embankment in Canada as I was driving Teresa from Alaska to New York back in 1993. We also down loaded "thunder island" by Jay Furguson. The memories! Some good and some bad. But still memories!

How music brings back memories!

That's so true Ric. Led Zepplin and "Stairway to Heaven" always reminds me of my teenage years, so when I came across a poster of that song last week I had to buy it and it now hangs in my crafting-workout-computer room where I see it every day.

I remember when Chris received his 8-track cassette of Led Zepplin's "House of the holy" in the mail.

It was probably playing when he rolled the truck at Talafofo Bay.

Cindy, every time I hear "Stairway to Heaven", I am teleported back in time to Guam too.

Paul, were you in that 'memorable rollover'? I knew a bunch of you guys were with Chris that day.

8 Tracks! Now that was technology back in the day!

Hi Paul, I remember sitting on the steps to your apartment building, you would play on your "guitar" and we would sing a long with you to "House of the Rising Sun."
Not sure if this is the version but close enough for a song down memory lane.
"There is a house in New Orleans

They call the Rising Sun

And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy

And God I know I'm one...

My mother was a tailor

sewed my new blue jeans,

My father was a gamblin' man

down in New Orleans.

Now the only thing a gambler needs

Is a suitcase and trunk,

And the only time he's satisfied

Is when he's on a drunk

Oh mother, tell your children

Not to do what I have done

Spend your lives in sin and misery

In the House of the Rising Sun

Well, I've got one foot on the platform

The other foot on the train

I'm goin' back to New Orleans

James Gang
Led Zeppelin of course

Black Sabbath
Deep Purple
Come to think of it that's still what I listen to.

I loved a lot of the music back in those days; disco, bubble gum, acid/ hard rock, southern rock, glamour rock, top 40's, country, even some of the classical stuff, and so on.

What ever category a song may be in and I listened to it on Guam, and if I hear it again on the radio...it brings me way back in time to memories of the 'Rock'!

Music is powerful stuff man!

music match was an online service that had a great feature. You could stream music from a particular range of years. I had one "station" setup as my Guam years and it really brought it all back.

Rhinestone Cowboy
Don't go breakin' my heart
Fame
Fox on the Run
Love Roller Coaster
Fly Robin Fly
Inagaddadavida
Band on the run (maybe they were chasing the fox?)
Indian Reservation
The night chicago died

They all bring me right back. I didn't really listen to the real rock back then (but I do now).
