I could swear I saw this guy on the McCain campaign trail. Hmmm, must have been his stunt double.

You don't stop the bleeding by transfusing more blood to the patient (raise taxes). You stop the bleeding by sewing up the wounds (i.e. spending).

The issue of who should pay how much of the taxes isn't the real issue. Just what a government should be empowered to collect taxes *for* is the real issue. Limit what we expect/demand/ask of the goverment (or more likely, what they assume they should be involved in) and the tax burden will go down for everyone.

I completely agree Sean. The point here though is that one can not predict how a person will govern based on party affiliation. Sweeping generalizations almost never work.

I think we had a pretty good idea how Arnold would govern long before he was elected. Yes, he ran as a Republican, but he's fairly liberal. We would call him a Republican In Name Only.

On the other hand, I think I also have a pretty good idea how Obama will govern. Not because he is a Democrat but because of the things he has already said and done.

Yeah, I'm going to have to call bullshit on that. Only four short years ago there was serious talk (within your party) about a Constitutional Amendment that would give Arnold a shot at the White House. So much for loyalty.

Foreign-Born President Amendment Sought

I would not consider either Arnold Schwarzenegger or John McCain true Republicans - way too moderate for me. Who expects anything else from California? The only reason Arnold was elected to begin with is because our last governor (Gray Davis) was thrown out of office. He should have been thrown out of the state!

Kind of what I said back in February.

Makes me wonder if it wasn't somehow intentional. I mean, how could the most unelectable candidate since John Kerry go from dead last, and near bankruptcy, to winning his party's nomination (and early at that)? Like Grampa use to say, if you want to guarantee your horse will win, make sure you run him against a jackass. Follow the money baby, follow the money.

BTW, Grampa said to tell you "PALIN IN 2012" hehehe.

Which party is it that has a jackass for a mascot?

If only someone could have/would have unraveled BO's money trail. I'd be willing to bet the trail leads to a place on earth that has a lot of sand.

Dave, Navada or Arizona? hehehe

Well I just realized the Independents do not have a mascot/symbol. Hardly seems fair. I just may have to go to work on that. Maybe something like a drawing of a teeter totter since we're always kind of up and down.

Becky if you have the time, what specifically were you looking for in a presidential candidate this past election. What would have made an ideal agenda for that person to promise to do once in the white house? I think for some conservatives
abortion was a huge issue and a major block to accepting Obama. Was this the primary issue for you?

Doug how about a Ham'ster!

RAC - about the amendment. It wasn't I who was calling for such an Arnold amendment, most of the conservatives I hear from would not have favored such a thing. Those that were would have been caught up in the emotional aspect of a superstar. (sounds familiar).

Speaking of foreign born presidents - when will Obama release his birth certificate?

juliet said...

Last I heard Hawaii was a state when he was born. Didn't McCain have the birth abroad issue. We all have a lot in common with Obama, we are all howlies raised on a tropical Island.

Doug said...

well if he were to do that his nefarious and sinister plot hatched years ago in some Indonesian backwater madrassa to topple the US would be exposed.

Doesn't it seem that the Born In The USA requirement would have been sufficiently vetted by now?

All I have is a certified copy of a birth certificate because of all the moving around we did.
Does it make me suspect because I moved around a lot and lived outside the US for six years and don't have my original birth certificate? Hmmm you know what I'm not so sure I want to know the answer to that one never mind nothing to see here folks move along.

Let me be the first to say here if it can be shown that Barack Obama was not born on US Soil than he'll have to go.

And then we can have another edifying and entertaining election. Won't that be fun.

The amendment was put forth by Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah (a Mormon). Sen Hatch has a conservation rating of 66.5 according to the National Journal. Having spent 2 years in Utah, I can assure you Sen. Hatch is anything but a Liberal.

There was a question about McCain because he was actually born in Panama. He gladly produced his birth certificate to show that he was born in an American base in Panama and that this satisfies the native born requirement of the constitution.

Obama refused to produce his document, despite being sued to do so.

I think it was Dave who posted a video to the (democrat) that was sueing for disclosure.

State declares Obama birth certificate genuine

HONOLULU (AP) — State officials say there's no doubt Barack Obama was born in Hawaii.

Health Department Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino said Friday she and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, have personally verified that the health department holds Obama's original birth certificate.

Fukino says that no state official, including Republican Gov. Linda Lingle, ever instructed that Obama's certificate be handled differently.

She says state law bars release of a certified birth certificate to anyone who does not have a tangible interest.

Some Obama critics claim he was not born in the US.

Earlier Friday, a southwest Ohio magistrate rejected a challenge to Obama's citizenship. Judges in Seattle and Philadelphia recently dismissed similar suits.

It is a misconception that only Democrats raise taxes. Reagan raised taxes 6 of the 8 years he was in office. Bush Sr. lost his bid for re-election partially because of a broken promise of no tax increases. And the current Bush is also not innocent, though his tax increases have been hidden in user fees and other such stealth taxation methods.

Anyone see the documentary "Jesus Camp"? It helps me to understand the conservative right. Rac the video is on UTube but my connection is too slow to post the link. Really worth watching. http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=jesus+camp&ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&sa=X&oi=video_result_group&resnum=4&ct=title#
