Hero or Villain?

An officer in the US Army has officially rejected Obama as both President and Commander in Chief (read the story here). So what do you think? Is this guy a hero or villain in your eye's?

As an Army Office, his career is shot, done, and he'll never see the grand rank of CPT (0-3). He will probably be relieved of duty as a platoon leader, and let go of his acitive status...as of like yesterday. An Army Officer never disrespects the Commander and Chief and gets away with it. But he most likley will be disciplined, and given a letter of reprimand (officers do not normal get Article 15's). But I understand his point of view. As probably the majority of Army Officers think and feel the same way he does (this coming from a former active duty Army Officer). RAC, he is a Hero in my book.

It would be interesting to see some research on the way this officer is handled by the press and media compared to the others who were not in support of Bush during his term as commander in chief. I confess that I haven't done any reviews on this, but I can imagine he'll get a very different treatment.

I hate to disagree Ric but you do not speak out about your comander in chief.yeah, he's through but he'll probably be court martialed and rightly so. We are a nation at war and you can't give orders or maintain order and discipline and openly defy your comander.Think about it?You're in the heat of combat and your position is taking heavy fire and your squad leader says hey Larson make a run for it to your left and draw fire so we can sneak around the right and take the bastards out and you say "no way Jose" I don't agree with that because I have more time in grade than you and my effective date of rank is earlier than yours. Because you refused your position gets over run and you and your squad get greased.See! You don't have to agree with your commander(I rarely did) but you must do what they say.OK remember bivuoac in basic training and you were tested at the end? Remember you had to memorize the "Code Of Conduct"? Remember the first Paragraph? "I am an American fighting man.I serve in the forces that guard my country and my way of life.I AM PREPARED TO GIVE MY LIFE IN THEIR DEFENSE"!He deserves what he gets.Sorry, Some things I believe deeply in and honor is one of them.

Yes, everyone has a correct point. Any Military Officer is bound not to speak out about the Comander in Chief. He will likely be retired soon.
But to answer the question, I would say nether. He is a fool, but not a villan. He too is not a hero for the above listed comments. If President Obama has commited some sort of injustice, it is up to the House to find him at faul, and the Senate to remove him from office. With both houses of congress in the President corner, I don't see any thing coming of it. Remember President Clinton, and the Demicrat Senate that ould not remove him from office, even after being impeached. The Demicrats protect there own, even when they have done wrong. Remember it was Republicans in the majority in the Senate when Nixon was going to be impeached. The leaders of the Republican party told Nixon that they would remove him from office if it got to the Senate. That is why he resigned instead. Nixon did less in the way of breakeing the laws than Clinton. It was not about sex, it was about covering up/lying to a Grand Jury.

Sean, I was running some of that through my head (quick trip). Any way, throughout the "war on terror" (President Obama has said that he would not use that term anymore) many military men and women (in the service and after leaving)were interviewed about how they were against the President. Cindy Shehan (sorry if her name is spelt wrong) was followed by the press like some sort of celebrity, or expert on the war. You did not see that coverage by the press for the pro-military group. In Idaho Falls a group of anti-militay people were haveing a rally. The only reason those of us who supported the President were on the news, is because we surrounded the "Vietnam Veterans Memorial" where the anti-military people were going to hold there protest. We had them move across the road. Remember in France, to protest the American Military, people were peeing on the grave stones of the fallen men from Omaho and Utah beach. More than 10,000 men died on those beaches, and the French goverment would do nothing to stop it's citizens form desicrating the graves of our fallen. We were not about to allow that to happen here.

I defer to Mat. Nothing I could inject would add value to what he has already written.

Hey Mat, I said "An Army Officer never disrespects the Commander and Chief and gets away with it". Thus I agree, you never ever speak out against your commander and chief.

I should have elaborated more, but I was tired last night. I do respect that LT for his opinion, but he should have kept his opinion to himself at least until he ETS'ed.

Hey DRL, O3 is a Captain in the Army and an O6 is a Colonel. Go Army, Beat Navy! ;)

No offense Ric, But I don't think Army has ever beat Navy.Shit!Or Air Force! Bigger Shit!

You are so right Mat. When it comes to football, Army loses everytime to Navy or Air Force. DRL is an ex-Navy man. Every time West Point plays the Naval Acadamy, DRL and I call back and forth. It's all in the fun of the game, if you like football.

Dave, does the Coast Guard Acadamy have a football team too?
