The Obama-nible No Man

When Harry Reed uttered the abominable quote "the war is lost" about Iraq, it was bad enough. But, now our new president isn't even interested in winning the war in Afghanistan.

"I'm always worried about using the word 'victory,' because, you know, it invokes this notion of Emperor Hirohito coming down and signing a surrender to MacArthur."
Obama told ABC News yesterdy.

This guy has been given too much airtime. Four primetime newscasts to the nation in 7 months - the sum total of President Bush's primetime newscasts in 8 years.

Have you all studied the History of Afghanistan. I didn't think so. I think what Obama is saying is realistic and that we need to rethink are goals and military strategy in the area.

"Our" goals, that is what is in the interest of the USA.

Becki,
while I see your point I do wonder at your accounting of the former president's number of prime time newscasts.
There were eight state of the union addresses. An address to the nation following 9/11 as well as one announcing the invasion of Iraq and several weeks later another declaring mission accomplished and the coalition victorious. This just from memory. Given the former Presidents well documented speaking acumen it's likely that there are others that have eluded my recollection.
Really do we need to be critical of an executive attempting to communicate an agenda to a nervous and fearful citizenry?
Would it be better if he said nothing?
Now it would be fair in my opinion to criticize his fairly vacuous and rambling press conferences.
But give credit for making the effort.
