And there was often some guy there from Truk or somewhere like that. A "student" at UOG that would always play "Killing me softly..." by Roberta Flack. He could put away some beer.
Is the Cruz Store still around? Probably not, but the smell of pickled papaya, buying a pack of Kools, and playing pool was cool! I think the Dean's Circle kids kept that place in business.
Bravo Dave, Man you keep memories flowing...I used to beg my Dad for money just so I could walk to Cruz Store to buy anything. I think that store stirs up so many things in my mind. I was so happy to be able to go.Tag along as I would do:)Sorry Alice:)Remember the ice cream truck,I would get money and run like the wind!!!
ill be right there joanna and i could probably eat the whole jar. nancy was getting the christmas peppers from her inlaws on guam for a while she still makes the best finidini. never asked her to make pickled papaya i dont know why i do seem them in the stores here in the summer time. i do get mangos here too cant stop eating them and every once in a while they will have starapples. and my parents always wanted me to tag along with my sisters they thought they wouldnt get pregnant that way guess i missed a time lol
Cindy, my wife just brought me home a little blastic jar of 'Salt Plum-Fruit Candy' that she bought at an oriental store last week. It is the same stuff that we use to suck on in Guam. If anyone wants a jar of it, I can send it to you! It's yummy!
Amy, I'll send it soon, hopefully not too pickled. I have a lot of memories when we were young:) Do you remember Nancy Waite, she lived right next to our house later on though as I recall?
danl,I don't remember older brothers but, that could be possible. I do remember that she was part Indian and adopted by the Waite family. I always wonder where she is now, just like Amy.I miss my little friends even Jinny.Maybe the younger ones could come to an island somewhere...Gilligan's Island:)I remember you Dan!Meet us there!!!

Don't forget the pickled papaya. A can of Schlitz for a quarter.

I tried making pickled papaya once. It just wasn't right. No one else would touch it, but by God, I ate it...(well, some of it)
