Obamas own words

Presidential candidate Obama said to the San Fransisco Chronicle (Jan. 2008) that the cap and trade would cause "electricity costs to skyrocket".

In the rose garden speech yesterday, he said it would cost Americans the price of a stamp a day. Today, that is .44 cents. Okay, so, that means it will be about an extra $160.60 a year per American. Now, if it is the cost per American, or home, I don't know. But, I will take the home side of it. There are about 120,000,000 homes/appt/dorms/etc in America. Courtesy Census bureau.
Math time.

$19,272,000,000 a year extra. Want me to figure out what that is if he meant for each American, not American home?

Go ahead and defend that, as well as the loss of millions of American jobs.

I just thought of something else.

Why is it only the middle class and poor that President Obama is targeting?
It will not hurt the rich at all to increase there energy bills. How about fuel prices? The rich can go where and when they want, the poor don't have that ability.

1) CO2 is not a pollutant. Most of this gas in the atmosphere isn't man-made in any case.

2) Global warming is a religious myth similar to "the sun went black so the God's must be mad" or "the earth is shaking so we must have done something to displease Gaea"

3) If the feds want to make a regulation that results in some marked improvement to the environment, how have they decided to track this and measure effectiveness? Will they measure total CO2 versus temperature change? How? Probably there is no planned measure at all.

4) This is all total bullshit in any case. Don't buy it. They only want more control of you and more money to spend. Complete crap.

Hey look at the bright side fewer people will be able to afford their utility bills which means less demand for foreign oil which is good for the country.
Why are you being so unpatriotic?

Sean said...

"fewer people can afford"... hmm that never stopped them from getting, say, healthcare. I guess we can look forward to a new "ElectriCare" entitlement program.

Doug said...

That was intended to be a joke.
Sorry, I guess I should have included a sarcasm emoticon.

And we already have an "ElectriCare" entitlement. It's known now as Section 8 Housing assistance. A federal housing entitlement engendered during the Nixon presidency.
That is not a joke.

Okay just beat it, beat it, beat it.

Sean, you are right in the fact that environmentalism is a religion. It goes back to Wica, New age, Mother Earth, etc....

The other thing is control. Socialism is all about government control over the population. The closer we get to "cradle to grave" the happier off they (they being all socialists) are.
The government knows better how to raise your children, what at to drive, energy, worship, than you do. Look at Hitler. He did the same thing over his population that Obama is trying to do. If you, and I am sure you have, read Carl Marx, Obama is following the play book. Hitler would be so proud!

"sigh"

mat said...

Doug when you say "sigh" does that mean because they're all assholes like you said before?More of the same?Or because of the "socialist" argument being brought up again?Just wondering because pretty soon the current government might start screwing with something that YOU care about.Come on dude don't be scared to stand up and voice your concerns with where the country is going.Yea they are all assholes but thats kind of the purpose of the tea parties. To say no more and return the country back to the status where europe and most of the world wants to be like us.Thats why so many people want to come here but that could change if we become just like everybody else.See.What happened to the Doug that was against the status quo and was for true freedoms and liberties?Do you really think the current administration gives a shit about you Doug?Do you think they care that you voted for them?Of all the people on this blog I would think that you would stand up against the bullshit thats going on.Go to a tea party. Don't be scared.I nominated you to be blog sheriff and everyone approved because well you were the elder hahaha. But seriously you were the one that everyone looked up to back in the day.I think we all want the same thing. To be left the fuck alone.Peace brother.

Yesterday was another sad day in the fall our our great America.

I had a tomato sandwich for lunch.
I also made findene (sp?) to have with the red rice which will accompany the BBQ chicken I will sear on the grill this evening. By the way Matt I remain forever in your debt for the tip on those handy little achote packets you can buy at the grocery.

More to your point though Matt I sigh because I weary of the Hitler references.
I recently posted a note in one of the threads that was actually critical of the present administration. Not so much to agree with an ideology typical of the right but that what we are seeing is in some regard more of the same.
I guess I'm not surprised being the jaded cynic that I am.
I do not regret nor do I renounce my vote for Obama. To the contrary I celebrate it. For in that celebration is the affirmation that I, for the time being at least, live in a land where I am free to blithely contribute to my own just desserts. However miniscule and impotent that contribution may be.
Does Obama care about me? I have never entertained an illusion that any of them knew me from the man in the moon.
Attend a tea party you say?
I'd sooner be turked by a syphilitic bear. And I have my own reasons for that for which I will not go into detail.
What I do find almost inexplicable is the sentiment sometimes expressed here that all this has happened over just the last five months. What, did you all just come out of a qualude soup coma in January and say WTF is going on here?!
We have the largest prison population per capita in the world and that includes roughly 400,000 non violent drug offenders.
We imprison innocent people, including American citizens, indefinitely and without charge simply on the basis of hearsay and suspicion.
We actively engage in "enhanced interrogation techniques", the very same techniques for which some of our previously vanquished foes and been tried, convicted and punished for practicing.
I have for some time held with disdain the my country right or wrong crowd. I find it to be patriotism for the simple minded.
I think that as time goes on and for varying reasons we are going to be more likely hearing America change it or lose it.
And peace out to you all as well my brother.

Your welcome Doug for the achiote short cut.But I'm confused by your answer to the invitation to a tea party.I kinda knew you were alluding to the Nazi reference. Some of us feel it's the same way we're heading though. You can substitute nazi for any other.I don't think BO is a Nazi but I think he is way in over his head. You can justify your vote for him by saying that you exercised your right.Well duh.No one ever disputed that. But just remember when you think that we voted for Mccain because he was the same as Bush,You're wrong. We voted for Mccain begrudgingly knowing that he was liberal on most isues but scared to shit of a registered liberal and hoping that we could win back some conservative votes. Our candidates let us down. The tea parties are just about that.Adressing and agreeing on issues and stances that we are for and drumming up support for the candidates that believe the same as we do.A third party candidate doesn't have a chance. To bad in todays political climate. So unfortunately we have to choose one or the other.I don't know where you're comment on prisoners came from. You left me in the dust on that one.But I will concede that both major parties always run on law and order.Neither party will give an inch either way on issues like decriminalization of pot.I do know that BO supports the FDA overseeing tobacco manufacturing and marketing and sales.Read Tax.We know that this is a political hot button but some of us think it's a personal choice issue. This has also been debated on the blog ad nauseum. You're invited when we get together (as are all of the lefties)but beware it is going to be one big tea party. We're on a mission.Love ya bro.

Mat, I gotta stand up for Doug on this one. He has been left of center, but more level headed about criticizing Obama then most.
He is tired of me showing (with accuracy) the similarity of Obama and Hitler. I hate to say that I was correct in the original comparison, and Obama keeps showing more and more that I was right. But, Doug is correct that he does not drink the koolaid like the other liberals on this blog.

Doug, watch out for the car, if you run from the bear.

DRL said...

Mat, I do not think that Obama is a Nazi, in the "Arian (sp?) Nation" kind of a Nazi. But he is a Nazi in the true definition of the word.
Remember, Nazi is the Socialist Party. Obama is a Socialist without question, therefore he is a Nazi.

Sean said...

the Nazi party was Nationalist Socialist. I think there is no argument that Obama is pushing an extremely socialist agenda, but it is devoid of nationalism. After all, America is no better than any other country, not in a position to "lecture or interfere" in anyone else's sovereignty. Rather is it some form of globalism or world-ism. Perhaps we need a new name for this. I propose "GloZi" (pronounced the same was a "glossy"). This also would seem to fit in well with his razzle dazzle techniques...

DRL said...

Yes Sean, Obama is not a Nationalist, but more of a Globalist. However, my distinctions is more with Obama and Hitler, over Democrat and Nazi. It is Obama using Hitlers Social and economical plans that I am comparing. Obama is using Hitlers economic reconstruction that scares me. He will soon start whittling out his appoints. Look now when he wants to put forward a plan, he excludes any opposition, and only invites in supporters.
He will (if he has it his way) make our country a "cradle to grave" socialist society.
He has already taken over many large companies (sounds like Hitler to me). His tax and control plan looks like Hitler as well. It really scares me.
