Anyone catch O'Reilly Factor tonight? First of all, I applaud Juan Williams for the job he's done in filling in for O'Reilly. Normally I don't agree with his opinions when he is a *panelist* on Fox. But, that's what a *panelist* does, express an opinion. Tonight, he asked some hard questions of the deputy white house press secretary about Cap and Trade, Healthcare and Honduras. Pretty fair and balanced, I'd say.
Now, I'm wondering when we'll see a conservative contributor guest host Olberman or Matthew's show...

Sean, I missed it.
I do like Juan Williams. He is a liberal, but he is probably the most honest liberal pendent. I have seen him defend a conservative panel when they were treated attacked unnecessarily. With hate not facts.
Oh, and to answer your question. Never.
But, on the other hand, the press secretary he was interviewing was spouting absolute crap with every word. If I can find a video clip, I'll post it.
Williams was pressing him in particular about Obama's multitudinous campaign promises that he would not raise taxes for anyone making under 250K (or 200K depending on when you asked him). Now that Cap/trade are on the table and there is a new cigarette tax, he is backpedaling on his promises. Certainly, these changes will only increase taxes on "the Un-Rich".
Looking forward to it Sean.
I do find it funny that no liberals are upset about President Obama lying about taxes. Bush 41 lost the election due to that lie.
What?! A press secretary spouting absolute crap!
Who ever heard of such a thing! This has gone too far.
Through time we all know that they have always been overflowing fountains of the truth.
I guess you just kind of glazed over during the last eight years' exercise in reality bending spin.
And what is a liberal pendant?
I have always liked Juan Williams.I believe him to be a straight shooter. He's Democrat for sure but I don't think he's a liberal as in far left.I enjoy his perspective on issues and considering that he's a paid contributor of Fox news he can't be too bad right?Hahahha.
Doug, I meant to spell "pundent".
Yes, press secretary's job is to say what the president wants out, no mater which president it is/was.
The problem here, is what occurred before the town hall meeting the other day. He (Obama's press secretary) said something to the effect of, 'you send in your questions via email, and we decide what we will answer. no open questions by the press'. President Obama will only take the questions he wants in advance, pre-screened questions. That way he is not asked a 'tough' question he can't or doesn't want to answer. No more "free press" in the Obama administration.
That is not terribly different from the previous administration, or those preceding them.
The press secretary can exercise censorship by simply not choosing to call on those that are not in the favor of the executive office.
Helen Thomas was moved to the back of the room and enjoyed as much recognition as the potted ficus for much of W's regime.
There is no shortage of examples of Presidential misdirection when it comes to dealing with the media.
You can rightly decry the abuses of the public's right to know but please do not try to have me believe that this is a recent development.
