Joanna, it was a lot of fun! (It is now 3:22 a.m., Monday morning for me, and I just arrived home to New York from Vegas just moments ago, so this is why i'm going to try to keep this short).
The rest of the gang should be on there way home or will be leaving Vegas tommorow.
Sorry I missed it when everyone called you Joanna.
We did intend on 'webcaming' the reuion (or a portion of it for the rest of you all). My brother Sean brought his webcam, Becki and I both brought our laptops,....but.....the fricken hotel didn't have internet access.....in our wing! Sorry everyone!
To summarize, it was a major BLAST down memory lane! (And we have photos to prove it)! Lets start working on the next one! Guam perhaps?
Mat and Bennita made the best Chamoro food! We got to view David Larson's Honorable Retirement Ceremony from the Coast Guard on CD, and each one of us recieved a copy of the CD! That sent chills down my spine when I watched it! Proud of you David! And we had a lot of 'group therapy' and 'opening up' (i.e., hanging out at the 'sweet or bar' and popping beer bottle caps...if you catch my drift)!
I hope I don't forget anyone. RAC'meister was there with his lovely wife and kiddie-poos! Cindy and Becki, whom it was nice to get reacquainted with! Doug, the 'babe magnet' was there! Mat and Bennita. Me and my Teresita. Both my brothers Sean and David. The original David Larson from Dean's Circle. Julie and Kelly. And 'the Rod'man'!
Good to be home, but miss the gang already! This is the first time I got to view the blog in many days (no internet access at our hotel).
Hope the rest of the gang post there memories of the reuion on the blog.
The reunion only ampliphied why this BLOG must go on!
Shoot, I also forgot to mention that we were also unable to veiw the 'Hydro God Rod Video' because the hotel did not have a VCR player! We were bumbing over that big time!
My favorite part of this reunion is to sit back and listen to everyone tell their memory stories, and be able to picture the events myself as I reached into the recesses of my mind.
I also loved getting to know Becki, Robert, Cindy, Doug and Rod. After all, you ALL were older than me.
The food. Um, Bennita we all know that you deserve most of the credit on this one. Fantastic!!
Ok, as for my real favorite part--- it was seeing DRL again.
The warmth and love I felt from everyone was wonderful. I love you all.
This reunion transcended reconnecting with people from the past...it was truly reconnecting with our past. I gained so much just listening to everyone talk. I felt myself transported to a time when we played hard, didn't wear shoes or much else, stubbed toes, skinned knees, walked to school, hung out at a bus stop, boonie stomped and survived it all to become who we are with a very personal common bond - Dean's Circle. What a weekend...what an event. I love you all...thank you for the memories!
I confess that I made this journey with a lot of trepidation at first. I hadn't seen anyone for decades and wasn't sure how we'd all relate.
Cindy was correct that I'm usually the strong silent type, but getting reacquainted was like finding an old leather jacket in the attic and trying it on. It still fits.
I think the thing we all have in common is a bigger part of us than we all (I) realized. I certainly don't get much chance to talk about Guam these days but it will always be a part of me.
