What the hell's going on?....:)

The Hale clan just got back from Reno and the Brew, BBQ, & Blues Festival. They block off Virginia Street, throw up two stages, bring in every micro brewery on the planet, slap sauce to rib, and crank them Fender 100 watt amps to 11 and play them low down blues!!!! I was on duty with the Street Team for the Tommy Castro Band (http://www.tommycastro.com). We set a record for merchandise sales...Yee Freakin' Ha Guam Peoples, I was a CD selling machine :) LOL :) Tommy sat in with his good buddy Coco Montoya (http://www.cocomontoya.com) to cut heads...OK, they just jammed their asses off, some of the best blues guitar solos I've ever heard. I don't mean to brag, but I've been seeing the best of the best blues guitarist for over twenty years now, so that compliment I just gave has some weight to it. Heavy stuff, man, Atlas's knees would of buckled :)

And this week, we got the Waterfront Blues Festival (http://www.waterfrontbluesfest.com) here in Portland, arguably the largest/best bluest fest on the west coast USA. This week I be a blues pilgrim!!!!

That's what's going on with me. Are you folks in Vegas soon? I know it would be no job to figure this out but I'm lazy...:)

Jimmy

I think the music industry works me :)

I was a weekend warrior at one time, gigging about once or twice a month. I promoted three benefit concerts, so I could I guess I could go the promoter/manager route. I'm just getting ready to get back into the performing thing. Now I can confess to myself it's probably what I'm meant to do. I just never could resolve myself to a life of eating box macaroni and cheese and driving a Pinto :) You know, I have a degree in computer science and went to work as a software engineer right out of college in '84. I got use to a decent pay check so living the starving artist thing just didn't seem like the way to go. Just my luck my inner child says it must be so, that it's not gonna be happy until I make music priority #1. I guess in reality it's called growing up and realizing what your meant to do, and that making money just don't have a damn thing to do with it. Ain't life a bitch. Well, at this age I think most of us have figured out you can't buy happiness, or at a minimum, peace of mind. So, to get a little peace of mind, I'm gonna get pretty serious about music from here on out.

So am I in the music business? Not at the moment, but catch me in 6 months. If I'm not in the music business by then, things have not gone according to plan :)

Go, Jimmy, go
Go, Jimmy, go
Go, Jimmy, go
Go, Jimmy B. Goode

I'm hearing Jimi Hendrix play Johnny B. Goode on his live record Hendrix In The West, recorded live at The Filmore West. In many peoples opinion, mine included, the definitive hard rock version of Johnny B. Goode. This album, this song, and the version of Jimi's Red House on it, a low down Blues as low as a Blues can go, we're talking the bottom of the Marianas Trench Guam Peoples, we know about that trench, these two songs to an almost 95% degree define me as a guitar player. When I practice the guitar there is 1 song I play every time at least once, usualy 3 to 5 times. Jimi's Red House. Can't get enough of that "I still got my guitar" Blues :)

Mr. Duncan, what were the scores of the last two Civil War games, and which team had the winning score? Which team beat the streak of the home team winning the game?

Do you forget the rules written into the Oregon Constitution? He who wins the Civil War hath all bragging rights forth on fulluth yearb, loser shalt keeps his/her big yap mouth shutted. Penalteed of braking this heard rubes be having state mascot beaver knaw y'alls shin fer one'a full days.

I'm reporting you dude to the Civil War State Police. Next time you step foot into OR-E-Gone you better be wearing shin guards...

Man, I miss you...love you...wish you as here...ain't no more beautiful human being than Mr. Rodney Duncan...can't y'all tell by how gentle and kindly I treat him :)

Here's my MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/fastjimmysjam. The more "in your face" guitar is me. I was the lead player, so I'm doing the bulk of the playing on "Too Rolling Stone", "Smoking Gun", and "Godzilla". I think this was recorded back in '95. My playing has improved a bit since then. The lick I use on Godzilla is what earned me the name "Fast Jimmy". I can play that about 3 to 4 times faster now, maybe 5 to 6, but you know, that really isn't the point. These days I'm more interested in that 1 note that's going to drill into the center of your head and make folks go "FUCK YA !!!!!" :) LOL :)

You can hear my originals on http://www.fastjimmy.com/music.html. There you'll find the brain damage Rod Duncan caused on me growing up, him being a few years older than me, me looking up to him like he knew something, boy what a freakin' mistake that was :)

Take care,
Jimmy

It's funny, I was thinking just a few moments ago during a particularly stinky moment, I ache with every inch and every ounce of my Being that Rod Duncan was sitting right in front of me right now laughing his ass off with me, not at me, over some stupid joke I just screwed up about the Ducks and Beavers, where the way I screwed it up I ended up slamming the Beavers, not the Ducks. Rod, I know you remember that sunny day in Corvallis when the Beavers had Joey Harrington's number, but you may not remember me having what I thought was the classic joke, but screwing up the punch line, saying Derrick Anderson instead of Joey Harrington. You were cool, man, you just said, "I know what you mean", and you laughed your ass off. That's the glory friend you are to me, cover my ass in a moment like that, that's friendship in my book !!!!!!

By the way, you showing them people that Hydro-Bronc video?
