One of our greatest accomplishments on the Circle has to be the invention of skateboarding. Long before ollies and kickflips Dean Circle brats were stealing the tracks off little kids' roller skates and bolting them on plywood planks. Skateboarding goes extreme

Ben and Paul were really good at skateboarding. They were forever flying off our DC house. The roofs on our houses were really smooth. I never could coordinate even the most basic form on a skate board. Ben was good at that fast ride down to the marine lab.
All my boys are into it. my youngest, Ian (12) carries his board around like its a little i pod. We've had a couple broken bones and a few stitches too. Boys are soooo daring with those things. I bite my lip to watch them.
Ah yes, the ol' marine lab road. We lost more skin on that one strip of pavement than any other.
Benny and Robert Jones click-clacking, duck walking and bolting toward the edge of Ben's roof, is forever burned into my memory.
I never got the hang of skateboarding probably because my parents deprived me of owning a skateboard.
No matter. Plenty of other opportunities to cheat death.
I made one of those plank + skate wheels too. Then I very clearly remember saving up $20 bucks to buy a real one. It was a clear plastic type with indoor skate wheels.
