Teresa and I finally got high-speed on-line access! We can now view videos posted on the blog, at real time with audio! The dial-up phone-line thing is ousted baby!
What a true difference it has made for our desktop (the one that I use). Our laptop (the one that Teresa uses with the router), is not as fast of the high speed Internet Optimum on line that we just got. And to boot, it is so much cheaper than dial up.
Welcome to 2009 Ric and Teresa. I feel I need to get a laptop and need to be able to have Microsoft Office (I need to learn Excel and PowerPoint) on it. I've been doing some research...but don't have a clue. I would like to keep cost under 800 $ . Anyone have any recommendations?
Yea sir RAC’ster, I have to agree with you, you get more ‘bang from the buck’ with Dell. Dell has been good to us. Cindy, I am still currently in the learning process with using Excel. I use it all the time at work now. Every other form that I fill-out at work is in Excel. I am still learning, but have realized that once you punch in the numbers, dates, information etc. in…it does the rest of the work for you!
Ug Ric. What wrong with banging rocks. Pull the string tight, ug. Smoke signal not good on foggy day. Band on drum. You will love high speed. I hate when I get on the Internet with my cell phone. It is so slow, I can take a nap. As Cindy said, Welcome to 2009, well even 2000. Do you still have the horse and buggy? Ha Haaa Haaaaaa Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Oh, my side hurts. I am still laughing inside.
I am on my second HP. I could not vouch for it more. (Pavilion dv4)This laptop is a workhorse and is small and lightweight. I bought Steve one last year. It can be found for under $500. Don't spend money buying more than you need. If you cruise around on-line and do some spreadsheets, presentations and word docs, then don't spend more than you need to. For what it's worth, girlfriend!
Thanks for advice my friends. I ended up ordering a Toshiba online from BestBuy. Had good reviews, was on sale for less than 700 and they had 18 months interest-free financing. So, I'm set. Also was able to find some local classes in Excel and Powerpoint which I'm signing up for so I can keep up with my coworkers.
Sean, how funny, but true! We did get rid of our AOL account, but we decided to keep our AOL e-mail address's for pure convenience.
Cindy, Teresa uses Power Point at work all the time to teach her classes. All I know about Power Point is, that it is some what like a slide-show, but done on the computer. It is used to give presentations. I have to attend training's and clinics more than I prefer. 99 % of the training's are conducted by Power Point. In your new job, will you be giving presentations?

Can't go wrong with a Dell for price/performance.

OK, Ric, one more thing.
In order to be taken seriously online, you have to loose the aol.com email address!
