He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me besides still water. He restores my soul; he leads me in the path of righteousness for his name sake.
"He makes me lie down in green pastures". This has a couple of things to look at. One, "He makes me lie down". This is used in the same context as "...and I will give you REST." Matthew ll:28-30. The Hebrew word for "lie down" is used for animals with four legs, that lie down with their legs tucked under neath them. This would infer that the animal was content, and felt safe. "green pastures". Once again going to the original language. This is the, "first sprouts of the earth, tender grass". It implies that it is before the grass needs cut or has come to seed. "He leads me besides still water". The word lead, is significant to "give rest", or "cause to rest". Sometimes that is what we need, forced to rest. Sheep, as dumb as they are, will not drink from moving water (strange enough, the word for "moving water" is the same for "living water".) Once again, the sheep are lead to a safe place. "He restores my soul" I could spent a thousand words or more on this part of the verse(but, I won't). The word "restore" is allot like the Greek word for "repent". Except that it is more of the "forgiveness" part of the equation. So with the rest, comes forgiveness. "Soul". This is one of the misunderstood words of the Bible. It is not "spirit", but the soul is the mind, heart and breath. It is the word that is used when God "breathed life" into Adam. Ponder that for a while. "he leads me". The work for "leads" is different than the word "leads" in the second verse. This means to "be governed" by God. "path of righteousness". This is in the same context that you would find when Jesus talked about the the narrow gate and path in Matthew 7:13-14. It is only through his guidance that we can go. "for his name sake". Why are we on the path or through the gate anyway? All the Glory be to God on high.
Sorry, I will try to keep it to one verse at a time in the future.
Oh, and this is nothing more that something to think about, or as Juliet put it, to reflect on for the day. It is meant nothing more than that. If someone else has something that we could use as a thought for the day, that would be great. Whether spiritual or funny.

You Da man DRL, keep spreading the word. Well actually the Lord is the man but you are doing a fine job getting the word out DRL.
Yea Doug, with that, It may have to be changed to, "sheep are the second dumbest, look at the humans".
Hu Mat?
I put the last one on the wrong one again. I have the toughest time keeping track of all these threads.
And Mat, it is not me at all, you know that.
