Just me, Johnny Borja. Not selling boards though, but I use to shape & glass boards. That's about it.

Use to surf with Da Jones Boys, Jim Fuqua, Chris Larson, Swingy, Mort, Butch, Dwight, Willy and all da boys on Guam.

Johnny, welcome to the Dean's Circle blog. I remember your name from those days, probably even watched you surf. Being Chris's younger brother, I was exposed to the waves at a very early age. My very first "big wave" at age 9, was 10 foot plus Merizo channel, in a little 8 foot boat with a 10 HP engine. Kim Aiken was at the controls and I was riding the bow. The first 3 swells we rode like pros and gracefully kicked out at the last minute. The fourth and final ride we were surfing down the face, thrilled by the drop. But Kim started his bottom turn too late. As I screamed at the top of my lungs turn, turn, Kim yelled over the roar of the lip barreling toward us, "good-by cruel world." We got sucked up and tossed over the falls, and drilled onto the reef. As I swam back out, Kim went in for the boat. I was getting hammered on my way back out to safer, deeper water. Just as I thought I was going to drown, I stood up on the reef. The water was only three feet deep. Kim got the boat fired back up and blasted back out to rescue me. We both had some reef rash to explain to our parents that afternoon, but the worst part of it was, I lost my new pair of zorries. There were many other wild rides over the years, some on Guam, some in Hawaii. But none of them will ever come close to that beautiful stormy day in 1969, riding on the dark blue waters of Merizo channel.

Dave, do you remember Coco Joe? Maybe Pascal "take it easy" Nelson? I'll post some pics of these characters.
