Sorry for the misspell. I meant to type HANK PICKOP.

Hank also worked for the Guam Daily News. His Mom and his brothers Ed and John also worked for the Guam Daily News.

Notice on the front cover,
Guam is not mentioned.
There was a similar incident with Surfer Magazine back in the 70's

Remember the Giligan's Island
issue ? The story goes that if the surfer mag guys mentioned Guam in the story....
the local boys told them that
they would seriously regret it....

Hey Chris, that's about right. It was around 1972 that Yuri Farrant came to Guam and began filming for the surf movie "Zephyr". And also in 1972 and 1973, Eric Aeder came out to Guam with Chris Ahrens, stayed at my place in Tamuning at PAD7. The deal was never to mention the name "GUAM" in the photos.
Erik was cool about this. He got a shot of me deep in a little 4 foot barrel at right side Boat Basin, as well as so many other surfers for the SURFING Magazine back then. The title of the magazine was "THE FORGOTTEN ISLAND OF SANTOSHA".

With Zephyh cinematographer Yuri Farrant, he ended up hanging out with Butch Bivines and so that movie had Butch in it, as well as some clips of Ron Edwards.

I have some vague recolection of watching "endless summer" up at UOG with the Jones boys in one of the classrooms or maybe it was some other never ending surf movie...Does anyone else remember that? Where is Ben, the other half of my memory?

Johnny, glad to see you came out of your shell. You've been cracking me up with some of your posts. You're a pretty funny guy... for a surfer.
