GUAM SURF RATS - early graffiti days on Guam

I remember that Swingy (aka Rick Drayton) use to call our troops the "GUAM SURF RATS" and we were at this surf house hangout called PAD 7 in Tamuning and we started spray painting the doors of our cars with a "lightning bolt and surf rats".

Now that would definitely be called Graffiti. We even got crazy and went to some dude's car and carefully spray painted a big "D_ C K" (not a DUCK) with really bright orange & red flames all around the "BA_ _ S" on the passenger side door (2-door car). This was freakin' hiliarious. We could not contain ourselves ... crackin' up for days on end.

The dude, Bruce Dale from Agana Heights, never noticed. But whenever he would drive downtown in Agana, a lot of people would wave to him. Bruce really thought he was the mayor of the town. Yowza!

Hey Johnny, about what year did this take place? If I wasn't there (on Guam yet) I sure heard about it from some one years ago. Funny how some one writes about an incident and it all comes back!

Ric, the spray painting incident happened in Tamuning, circa 1974. The car was a dark blue Toyota Corolla driven by Bruce Dale from Agana Heights (the Mayor ... nah, just joke, he was never a Mayor, although he might have posed as one ... Mayor of the Chicken Coop).

Bruce was a good friend of mine and we were just *&#@@# with him. But, that specially flamed "logo" on his passenger door, really did exist. That incident is well remembered by so many on Guam...laughs for so many, many years.
