Government Mandated NCAA Football Playoff ?
Now why would the Federal Government want to interfere with and gain control of College football? Why is BHO so bent out of shape over the way the Bowl games are played? Could it be that he is trying to grab a piece of the money pie? Does anyone think that he is so concerned about the teams or the conference and the fairness of the current Bowl system? I seriously doubt it. Sounds to me like meddling fingers at work again, trying to exert more authority and control over the private sector. Like the Feds don't have enough on their plate already...

I presume you are referring to this weeks Commerce Sub committee meeting on the current BCS alliance. While Barack Obama has, like a number of citizens, expressed a desire for a major college playoff he had no hand in this affair of windbaggery.
Interestingly enough this little inquisition was headed up by two republicans, from the great states of Utah and Texas.
If memory serves, the University of Texas & University of Utah were the latest victims in the odd man out sweepstakes that is the BCS Championship gane selection process.
It was quite comical watching BCS Commissioner John Swafford listening to the representative from Texas compare the BCS to communism without busting out laughing.
Protection of the Bowls, and the multi millions they bring to communities annually is job one of the BCS. Capitalism hardly typical of the ideals of Marx, Lenin & Trotsky.
When Obama expresses a desire for something, and the next thing you know it's the subject of a congressional hearing, it's hard to believe he doesn't have a hand in it. His cronies come in many shades of red, blue and pink. They come out slobbering, falling all over themselves trying to grant the king's wishes. If he really has no hand in it, I'd like to hear him say so.
Again, the representatives were from the states of Texas and Utah. And Republicans at that. If Obama held such sway over the minority party why is it he can't get them to see his way on anything else?
Maybe it's because Texas and Utah, in that order are the last two schools to be screwed out of an appearance in the BCS Title game.
Still, Dave's concern is relevant. It is not place for the government. The two republicans have no say in what goes on in committee any more. Still, with the Executive office take over of private companies, firing of CEO's and negotiation of contracts, this is simply another step int Obama's reach for a socialized country. For those of you who don't like capitalism, and prefer socialism, I think you wish has been granted.
Oh and I hate the way the BCS does the rating. I think everyone does. I think some sort of a "playoff" is the way to go. But I wish the government would stay out of private business. Including football of any kind. The BCS is one of the greatest mistakes in academia, but still, because the President or senators or any publicly elected official doesn't like something, that doesn't (that being the Constitution of the United States) give them the power to throw his weight around.
