If it truely was her space than I think it was wrong for anyone to take down her flag and make an issue about it. If I shared an office with two coworkers I think I would ask first before I hung up something that was large and going to be in their space also.
I notice this happened in Mansfield, Texas. Mansfield is about as hard core cowboy as any place I've ever lived. Now you see what happens when a state's governor openly puts down the country and even threatens secession - the residents decide the greatest symbol of our country is now offensive. What's next - bald eagle BBQ?
What a trip America is really a mixed bag of nuts these days.
Where is the worlds greatest American on this one.
Only RAC could come to that conclusion...
The "offended" was an African immigrant, not a native Texan. The governor has not "put down the country", but rather rejects the naked federal power grab by the Democrats and this administration. But, not to worry RAC, soon we will no longer be America.

I don't care what any person from a foreign country thinks of our flag. If it offends them, move back where they came from.
The thing I think is missed here in the article is the flag was put on the ground. Next to burning the flag, letting it touch the ground is abhorrent. If they would have taken it down and folded it up in a closet, it may have been different.
Well, now my commentary: try and throw my flag on the ground. I know that rac will probably do it now just to provoke me.
I liked the one guys comment if you don't like it here take the North exit to Canada or the South exit to Mexico. I wonder if that the supervisor has had death threats yet.
On the other hand there is probably some background to this situation...maybe she has some personality issues that make it unbearable to work with her and the flag was just a bad choice for the super to stand her ground.
There are always 2 sides to every story...and then there is the truth.
The real issue here is that we've let our country fall to the point where we actually give serious credence to the notion of someone being offended by our flag.
It was the hospital administration that ordered her to pull down the flag. Therefor they must have also concluded it was offensive. A judge usually won't send you to death row unless she concludes that what you did warrants such punishment... at least that's how they use to do it in Texas.
Don't be so naive - the hospital administration concluded that it was easier to deal with telling her to take the flag down than with the inevitable legal bullying that would have come from the ACLU.
Why is it that every argument that comes from your family starts with a personal attack? Don't be such an asshole Sean (how's that - does that make you feel more at home). Yours is an assumption just as much as mine is.
Well, I for one have certainly never called anyone on this blog an asshole.

Sean, you have called me naive (among other things) on several occasions so in my book that makes you an asshole. It really isn't necessary to include insults when you state your opinion. If you believe your argument strongly enough it should be able to stand on its own merits. Personal attacks do nothing to further your case. This is a habit I really wish we would all get away from.

Trolley car refers to your bonding adventure ride at NY NY in Vegas with Matt. He mentioned it as a catalyst for "college dorm" like nick names (ster)in a long and rather dramatic, heart felt narration of the bonding amongst some men on the conservative side of the blog. This solidarity and his uneducated, mis-guided belief that he would have been a member of the German side of things in WWII (because of his ancestral background) as a rational for accepting the slanderous, unacceptable things said about me and my family, by guess who, oh ya the Larson- Perdu boys. I think in the last few days I have weathered the names like "Shameful Child Murderer" and accusations of being less American and less patriotic...etc rather well. I mean asshole would be a step up from child murderer.
Bait'n well you could have a hobby of fishing or wanking take your pick.
Sean, I for one , only sank to DRL's level when I got tired of his insults, generalizations, and name calling.....it seemed at the time the only way to deal with him...yes, childish, I know but he shows no respect for any one who doesn't think the way he does and I'm sure he has no intention of trying to behave differently.

However, I will take exception to your comment that your side only got nasty in response to something nasty our side said (paraphrased). You know as well as I that we've all been guilty of stirring up the pot. I will refrain from providing specific examples because I believe you know what I mean. I was on that ride also. I kind of enjoyed it and saw it as nothing more than a pretty good time.

When you wrote that Trolley car vegas tribute post I was reading it as I prepared for my trip to Guam and Korea. I travel often and visit with friends when I can. Third Culture kids are kids raised outside of their home country. As for the FU...If you are in a standing position can you see the parts to do the job, then give it the old college try Matt'ster.

Rac, E tickets went first. The best rides back in the day....damn, I'm getting old. remember going with mom and dad and setting up a meeting place after we all went our own ways? They were great. giving us free reign in Disney World with E tickets!
Weren't the rides also rated by letter type? Like the best rides only accepted E-tickets and lesser rides might be a C or a D ticket. I think they also had different ticket packages. The more you paid the more E-Tickets you got. Not sure what the cable car was but I do remember it was a great place to "smoke".

I have in the past however wondered at the Wal Mart up the street that has a like 50' x 80' American flag out front while they are the worlds largest purveyor of cheap chinese shit.

Yep. Growing up in in Florida meant a trip to the Magic Kingdom every time some yankee relative came to visit. After awhile you kind of had the place wired.
So, if none of us can imagine being offended by Ole Glory, then why did this thread degenerate so? Would it not have been an option for a resounding chorus of one voice proclaiming that the American flag shouldn't offend anyone and if it does, well, that's just too bad.
Why must we echo the bickering of our party lines on every little thing - even when we all agree?

Yes Doug. From the time we were 5 yrs old and taught to recite the Pledge of allegiance in kindergarten. It's in our DNA. none of us are either more or less patriotic than the next guy or gal.
I love the American Flag!I believe that people who burn it or drag it around should get the heck out of the U.S. of A. No respect and full of hate, move to China then. Your family may disappear during the night or they may charge you for the bullet that killed your loved one,but if you hate the American Flag ,then by all means,leave the country ASAP.

The name calling mostly. People seem to make some personal attacks. A while back I invited old Guam friends to visit the blog and got some feedback that it was pretty disappointing. I was embarrassed.
JULS, this was one awesome posting! You know, I have been off the blog for maybe a week and a half or so. I just decided to “check in to see what condition the blogs conditions was in”. It’s disgraceful. I too would not recommend anyone to this sight. Name-calling? Now, didn’t we all grow up about 30 or 40 years ago? Guess some of us still haven’t?
It's not a personal attack unless you take it "personal". I think any kid who ever lived in Deans Circle should join in here. It's good for the soul. Most of us, (especially us ole timers) would welcome them with open arms.
I personally enjoy Jezebel.com but still always come back here because it feels like "home".
Juls I think you made the same comment before. I thought this was a DC blog for former DC kids. Really there are thousands and thousands of alternatives. My "Lucy's 5 cents worth" is, if you don't like something and it is unlikely to change based on past experience, stay away from it.
