Hey Juls, you are great! You should be the designated 'SGT of Arms'. You should be the one that has the authority to run this upcoming affair.
I do have new photo's, but none of Guam. My brother Steve had them all, but he is gone now.
No year books on my side. My brother's Dave or Sean may have them?
I do have one little photo of my brother Steve who has gone on to the other side. But maybe Sean or Dave have some of him?
I don't have any more OP short, and if I did, I could not fit them (beer gut). But I have purchased some island style shirts for this reuniion!
Guam food! Mat, cook a lot of it dude! I am always hungery!
I'm in for the early 'Secret Santa gift thing'! But what is a 'Wrapped White Elephant gift'?
See you and the others soon! Ric
#2: Homie don't got no yearbooks, was too busy playing hookie on those days.
#4: Homie don't play dat. The only contest Homie will play is to see Douglas running down the hallway in his boxer shorts saying something or other about pickled papaya.
#6: Homie don't play dat either. My kids can't even get me to do white elephant at Christmas time.
#1, #3, #5: Homie's down for #5.
#1 and #3 are possible.
I've got a couple yearbooks and some Guam photos to dig out.
What's a White Elephant Gift?
White Elephant gift is a "gift" wrapped. Could be a nice gift or could be a gag gift. Everyone draws a number and starting with number one, they pick a "gift" and unwrap it. The next person picks a "gift". They can pick the one you just opened or one unwrapped. The point is that when the person chooses the gift, they could be stuck with it.
The only thing about a wrapped gift for those of us flying is I don't think that you can wrap anything. Some nonsense about Homeland Security. Not really looking forward to the cattle car treatment that is todays coach air travel. Thought about upgrading to business class but the wife strongly discouraged the additional cost. I have no idea what to get for a bunch of people that have everything. Oh wait yeah I do, boxer shorts for all you losers that will be running down the hall loudly extolling the virtues of the enhancement powers of pickled papaya.
I do have photos to sort through, Some of them are a real hoot. Will bring copies of some of the best.
Thanks to Juls for taking the time & energy to help put some of this together. You are a hero. Oh and Matt and Becki and DRL too.
Thanks Doug!
You can take the gift in your suitcase unwrapped, and I will provide wrapping paper at the hotel. It is a very fun game the "White Elephant Gift Exchange" Some gifts should be covetable and some gag. That is what makes it fun.
Oh, and pickled papaya counts if you are lucky enough to find a green papaya somewhere.....
