Fight The Fight!

This month I have a very important topic to adress.I want more people to understand and apreciate the car hobbyist as well as the commited,hardcore automotive fabricator. There are some people out there who don't appreciate our art.You could say these individuals are trying to control the automotive hobbyists and squash him or her out of existence.many of you may not know who Nancy Pelosi is and her recent antics.She is speaker of the house and she has an idea to start a national "Cash for clunkers" program.Speaker Pelosi thinks that destroying old cars would help stimulate the economy by increasing new car sales.The only thing crushing old cars does is create more debt,not to mention the effect it will have on small buisnesses trying to sell spare parts to maintain older cars. The reason I say more debt is simple:if we don't have a selection of older cars to choose from,we are compelled to get a new or newer car,which means constantly making loan payments!Consider that you just bought a new car with seven hundred dollars a month payments and insurance of three hundred a month not to mention annual taxes.In this economy you never know if your going to lose your job which adds to the stress.Alternatively if you had the option to buy an older more affordable used car you could pay for it in full.The insurance and taxes would be far less as well.Parts suppliers would be adversely affected as well.Some will go out of buisness.And those hard to find replacement parts would become to expensive for only the most well off.Ms.Pelosis idea is elitist because it aserts that she believes she has the solution to how the common folk should manage their transportation needs.Ms.Pelosi is totally disconnected from what real working people want and need in this dismal economy.Not only does she want to destroy our ability to buy older used cars but she will also eliminate our ability to maintain our beloved hobby.And further she'll impair the ability of fabricators to make a living.This plan is definitely not the solution to repairing our damaged economy.Now I don't have a degree in economics but I do know that if I ran my shop the way the government is spending my tax dollars,I would be in jail.Since I totally disagree with speaker Pelosi here is my idea to fix the budget.Some of you might have heard that some banks and some unnamed insurance companies have under severe scrutiny given back some of their bonuses.To go along with that theory,I feel congress should take a forty percent pay cut.After all in 2009 members of congress will earn an annual salary of $174,000 with party leaders making more.Speaker Pelosi will make $223,500.00 this year.Amazingly that is what public servants get paid for their service.Which doesn't include payments on the side for speaking engagements etc.So lets do the math for a second using just the average congressional members earnings of $174,000.00Forty percent of that is $69,600.00.Multiply that by 535 congress members and $37,236,000.00 per year.WOW.Those clowns in WEashington work for us and we put them in office.These games they are playing with our future are unacceptable.Stand up and use your voices.Start contacting your local representatives and let them know we support a cap on congressional salaries as well as opposing the cash for clunkers bill.

Mat, good one. The problem too, that he didn't mention anout the credit problem, was that it is what has gotten us into the economic problem we are having. Speaker Palosi wants Americans go go further into debt to finance her wacko enviromental agenda. Ironic isn't it? You will probably get slammed by the liberals, who think it is better to be in debt.

All the people that have to stay inside because of the Monte Carlo? It is your fault that there is global warming. There are kids dying in India because of you! Oh, and Ric and Teresa melting the glaciers, yep.

Mat, maybe you can find out how much fuel is burnt and exhaust is put in the air every week Pelosi uses her personal government jet to go home.

Matt, why is the Government spending your tax dollars the way it is. How did that come about? Germany did the cash for old cars trade. I read somewhere 3 out of the 4 new car buyers would have bought a new car anyway.
