This is such a classic DC shot.

And through out the years, many folks have flipped me the “finger” (mainly while I was driving on the road). And all the while I took it as if they were telling me that I was “number one”! ;)

But now it has a whole new meaning? Original meaning must have been around mcuh longer than the philosophy "hey, you are #1!

Ah, I see that the (correct) "knuckles up technique" is being employeed by Dave and Doug. This is vastly superior to the "lazy man's bird" where the middle - and only the middle - finger is given any extension.

I am glad we could finally find a neutral topic.

Dig the chicks in the polka dot bikinis. Priceless.

Ha you just think its neutral. Wait for it. I got two days off coming up.

Interesting observation Sean. One of the hardest adjustments moving Stateside was the switch from a Guam style bird to the Florida style bird. Using a Guam style bird brought about too many odd looks and detracted from the bird's true meaning. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

I well remember that day that the Master Finger Caster demonstrated the proper bird technique. Prior to that we were using the lazy man's finger that was prevelant in Idaho.

Thanks, Mat, for setting us straight. (so to speak)

Ric Larson said...

Mat; lay it on us like it is! Two days off you can write a lot! Aside from “keeping us straight”, tell us like it really is!

Ric Larson said...

Sean, good observation! Never really realized until I read your post that there are different forms and techniques of “flipping the bird” (or telling some one that they are “# 1”)!

I am actually sitting here practicing all these forms. (Heck, never realized the strain on the finger muscles that it creates). ;)

I AM SO GLAD TO SEE WE HAVE NOW FINALY APPROACHED THE TRUELY SERIOUS TOPICS OF THE DAY!!

Rod said...

P.S. YES! An awesome photo, wish I was there!

Rod,
Fear not. Thread topic #3 offers some potential for the return of the rancorous partisanship typical of our beloved Deans Circle bretheren.

Ric Larson said...

Yeah, so where were you ROD! ;)

Never better said ROD, never better said.
