Rush kicks Gen Powell to the curb
Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh Wednesday that if former Secretary of State Colin Powell is going to keep criticizing the GOP, he may as well leave the party and become a Democrat—adding that Powell’s endorsement of Barack Obama was “purely and solely based on race.” Continue...

First of all, I am very saddened that this Blog has turned into a political blog. What ever happened to the ‘Guam or Dean's Circle Theme’? But what may, I will respond.
Secretary of State Colin Powell; He is an opportunist? He goes with the flow, and has no guns to stick by. He crumbles under peer or political pressure.
I too agree with the El’Rush’bo! Rushy Baby Rocks!
I'm sorry to hear you are sad Ric. But hey, it is what it is. I think everyone posts about politics because it stirs emotion. Reliving your 12th birthday can only carry the conversation just so far.
O.K.
Ric,
I can't really speak to what you all talked about back in the day but as i recall we spent many a night on the curb out on front of someone's house, talking, debating, arguing, theorizing about anything and everything. I can still almost feel that curb still warm from the sun on my backside as I would argue with Bast about how much the Pirates sucked. Harry Heafer (he took the infamous group shot) and I almost came to blows over whether the Let It Be album had religous meaning. The point being that we came from widely varying backgrounds and we lived to make good lively conversation. It passed the time. And our unique experience of world travel and the immersion in foreign cultures made us pretty good at it.
That's all we're doing here.
I regret that you are saddened by what you see as a profusion of political threads. Unfortunately politics is fluid, topical and ever changing and as such that makes it a good candidate for conversation.
Some of us even find it interesting and engaging.
There are no real parameters for thread topics here. Feel free to start one on whatever topic you'd like and see where it takes us.
That will be just like life in Dean's Circle.
I am no environmental whack-job, but I understand that it takes thousands of years for a cigarette butt to deteriorate. Do ya think that some of our old cigarette butts are now buried, still there, under the Dean’s Circle’s soil?
But no Doug or RAC, I am not saddened. I should have used the word disappointed. ;)
I wonder if Limbaugh wears black all the time for it's slimming effect.
Ric,
the fiberglass is almost surely there. Half life of that stuff is like 10,000 years.
I'd almost bet that there's still beer cans on that back trail to Pago. To say nothing of the San Miguel bottles out past the rock that have been providing marine habitat for all these years.
We always had the best interest of the ecosystem at heart.
Nice! Thanks Doug, my next big goal in life is to organize a geological dig at the old Dean’s Circle site to find those butts and old beer cans!
Well there were different groups of people at the circle for sure. I don't remember talking about anything except how to make my bike faster or how to better blow something up. I didn't give a shit about politics for sure. I was to busy being a kid. We fished snd swam at the rock and went to football games at GW. We'd go to plays at the fine arts center and heckle the performers. We played baseball and explored the jungles around the circle. We built forts and did just about any thing that kids did. But I'm positive I never sat around talking about politics. I don't mind now though. I'm older. There are still a lot of good Deans Circle stories yet to be told though I think during the election everyone got caught up expresing their opinions and that just kind of stuck.
Oh man I forgot, this post was about Colin Powell. Well I do agree that he supported Obama at least partially because he was black. Thats OK I can't fault him for that. Powell overcame great adversity in his life and rose to the top in an organization that once held him back based solely on the color of his skin. But second I never cared for him(Powell) as a commander. He was weak during the Gulf war and was constantly at odds with "Stormin" Norman. Is Colin Powell a great American as Hannity would say. Hell yes. And do I give a shit if Rush supports him or not? Nope. He is the same kind of republican as Bush. Liberal republicans. They might as well switch parties. You can hate Rush all you want but nobody can deny the weight he carries within conservative circles. And yea Doug he does wear a lot of black. Slimming? I don't know he still looks pretty big to me. I think he's just to cheap to shop around and just wears what the EIB wardrobe person gives him.Hahha.
"Rush" had a whole different meaning back in our days and nights on the curbs and at the bus stop, not to mention the all nighters in the coconut grove.
"Colon" only has one meaning for me now. It's that place my doctor scopes out every three years, looking for the little bastards that killed my Dad.
The real question is whether Rush will run for office in 2012. Now that would be interesting.
If Limbaugh runs for any type office I will eat my floppy hat.
Wow,The 2 parties are agreeing to disagree.Someone said that this blog would become a pissing contest.Let us look back and remember the "good ole days". Isn't that why the blog was initially started for?
So Dave,
what's your favorite flavor for the pre roto-rooter procedure cleansing liquid?
I've always felt you can't hardly do wrong with grape.
Phosphate Soda on the rocks, shaken.. not stirred. Yummy.
That's just the preliminary. I'm talking about that mucous like golightly crap you have to drink after the phosphate. You know that gallon jug that by the time you're halfway done with it you've used up your quota of bathroom visits for the next month.
Gotta' go with grape.
Rush will never run for office. It doesn't pay enough.
