Band of Bloggers

I'm watching a show on the History Channel called "Band of Bloggers." It's about our brave young men and women serving in Iraq and how they are chronicling their experiences via the Internet. Kind of makes what we're doing here seem rather frivolous. May God save America's sons and daughters.

God Bless our Soldiers, Marines, Sailors and Airmen (including the Coast Guard)!

With out them we would not be a free Country!

Thank a solder, sailer, airman, and any Veteran.
RAC I saw part of that too, and thought of us on this blog.
I remember being away for a long time, and was twice in "Harms way". I am a proud member of "The American Liegon" and the "Veterans of Foreign Wars". I wish at those times I would have had the internet.

I too was in "Harms way" more than I wanted to be! Didn't freak out much until after the fact, months later when I was laying in bed remembering the "zzzing clunk thug" sounds that went by my helment!

I haven't renewed my American Legion membership in years! But probably should.

In the mean while, I have been supporting our Armed Forces in evey way possible! And always will!

Yes Ric, I second your comment. Bless you all!!!

My husband's son will be out of Iraq in 2 weeks. I feel guilty every day because I helped convince him to join the Army. When I first moved in the house he was driving me crazy, no motivation, not going to school, blaming everyone else for his crappy life. He loved everything about the army..movies, games, books. I think he joined just to get away from my lecturing about getting his act together and doing something..he wanted to prove something to us all. He's had to see some bad shit including having a buddy from a hummvee in front of his get blown up and die in his arms..I can hardly stand to watch the news anymore. If anything happens to him I will not be able to forgive myself and when he is out of there at the end of this month I will be able to sleep easier, but I know he will never be the same person.

Hey Cindy, I salute your step son!

My brother David, while in the Navy probably has had more experience than I did when it comes to "Harms Way". Only one bullet missed me. Dave was in the thick of stuff if I remember correctly.

And regardless of our political views, got to salute a person in uniform, regardless of rank, service, what they do, or where they are station!

Hope he comes home safe!

Hey Cindy, please don't feel quilty about a thing! It's people like your son that makes us such a great Country! You will see, he has become a better man!

Ric, I hope you're right. He'a a pretty tough guy. He practically raised himself with his dad shrimping and his mom not around most of his life. His relationship with his dad used to be strained but that has changed and he requested that his dad be sure to be there in Texas for his homecoming. He and his family will be here for Christmas which we are all excited about.

Hi this is Jo. I know personally a young lady who was going to U.O.G.Her name is Theresa. She is assigned out of Guam. She volunteered for Iraq. After learning computers, she thought she'd be in the safe zone...there really is no safe zone.May her Guardian angels watch over her and everyone.

Bless you Ric. I didn't know you went to war. I keep thinking of you as a little kid, and you're a grown up soldier! Like Little Tim said on Scrooge "God bless us all, every one." Esp you Vets.

Hi Alice, never went to war. Cuban riots of 1980. We went into a building to help a deputy sheriff that was taken by some of the refugees. They tied him up and began burning the buliding. Went in to get rescue him when the refugees that took him service weapon began shooting at us.
