All that talk about the islands has gotten me thinking and dreaming again. I'm not sure how much longer I can wait until I must return, if even for a short while. Home is where the heart is.

Especially now with the weather starting to turn. Kind of makes you long for the good old days when you could swim at Pago shorts optional after your Thanksgiving dinner.
Or if your in the mood for a fresh water swim the local public water supply.
Probably one of the biggest shocks for me after coming back stateside was the first time it got good and cold oh along about November of that year. Holy shit!

Always good to see pics of the islands. The more the better, since I dont have any from when I lived on Guam.

Dave's pic is of his backyard in
Ewa Beach , I recognize that
Rwy 8 left , aproach anywhere.
We would toss around the football
in Dave's backyard watching screaming 777's dropping in 75 feet over his roof ...you could see the bolts on the landing gear doors...

..aahh paradise......

Hey Chris or Jeff, take us some killer pictures of 20 foot sunset winter surf at sunset beach. I'm already recycling my sunset shots, need some fresh material on the blog. I have some shots of my back yard in hawaii..looking up....

My ballroom dance teacher is Hawaiian..Haverly "Aki" Akioka. At 60, he's one of the sexiest men I know (he can really move on the dance floor)and a kindred spirit.I even had him walk me down the aisle when I got married. We talk as much as we dance. He's told me great stories about growing up in Hawaii, surfing, working on his grandfather's taro farm. He got into trouble as a teenager, was in a gang, even got shot in the shoulder, but someone got him involved in ballroom dancing to keep him out of trouble. He's a real character, has done alot in his life. I haven't been taking lessons in awhile but told my husband yesterday that I was going to start again after the first of the year. Dance lessens with Aki are cheaper than therapy...and just as helpful..lol

The islands are no doubt the place to which we can all escape, everyone of us. I have not been back to Guam since 1978. I just remember doing too much Pakalolo; the wrong road for sure.
Now I see the island in a romantic way. I do miss it though, although I hate to hear about all the politics in the legislature out there... most of the guys in that legislature today are my high school friends, and some of my Tamuning neighbors. I miss the island of Guam.
I'll be leaving for Tahiti on Nov. 21 to surf and hang out with family, and then on Nov. 30 I'm off to Oahu for more of that. Just trying to keep the "islands inside of me" forever alive.
