Hi Dave and everyone, I ran into Pat Atherton at FHP and I told him that people are looking for him on the blog. I named off Hank Pickop and others like Johnny Borja who he said that he's in touch with. So soon he'll log on!!!:)

Hey Joanna,

Good going! Yeah, Pat & I are pretty close; rode around in his white Toyota Land Cruiser quite a bit, to go surfing everywhere possible. Our other buddy was John Gerber, the DJ for the KUAM Wireless Rock show on AM610.

I have yet to find Hank though. That boy and me use to just sit around and keep telling jokes or complain about other people, till we had to go surfing....we were usually waiting on shore for high tide to come around.

I remember Hank & I riding the same big, big wave at left side Boat Basin. This was right after Typhoon Pamela hit Guam in May 1976. I was riding my 8'8" mint green rhino chaser pintail, and I took off so far back, got barreled deep backside, saw Hank taking off at a good part of the wave in front of me, but I was even deeper back... he did not see me until he kicked out in the channel, then he heard me howling as I kicked out behind him. It was CRAZY!!! That was the deepest back side barrel I had ever been in, even to this very day.
