Aryan Nations recruiting again in northern Idaho

(AP) COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho – The Aryan Nations has returned to northern Idaho with what it is calling a "world headquarters" and a recruitment campaign.

Coeur d'Alene resident Jerald O'Brien, who has a large swastika tattoo on his scalp, is one of the leaders of the white supremacist group and said he expects membership to grow because of the election of President Barack Obama.

He told The Spokesman-Review newspaper that the president is the "greatest recruiting tool ever." Continue...

This was posted in support of my previous post "Federal agency warns of radicals on right" and not Sean's posting of Garofolo's misinformed rant.

No problem rac, I don't think anyone on this blog would think otherwise. I must say that the aryans and all other hate based groups are pussys and I seriously doubt anyone on this blog supports any of them. I can honestly say that I speak for cons/reps at least the ones I know that we would never support these losers. I'm glad the feds are tracking them although they're not a major threat, if they kill or harm even one person, it's too many. Idaho has long been a hot bed/breeding ground for these groups. I don't know why. I really hope and pray rac that you didn't post this to try and get a rise out of us Righties. I hope the feds nip these fucking groups in the bud before they grow to more than say two or three members. Myself I'm the biggest bigot around. I hate assholes. ALL assholes. And these guys are assholes.Everyone here on the blog is cool though. And just so everyone knows, we can fight like nobodies buisness and call each others names and piss each off to the max on this blog. But if we're partying say at a reunion and go clubbing or anything else, and some asshole or assholes tries to start some shit with one of us Rats, well it's on! I'll be the first one to jump in and defend the circle. Never ever forget that for all our diiferences thats the one thing that we all share. The circle baby. As for those dicks in Idaho, stay there if you know whats good for you. Better yet go get jobs and start contributing something useful to society.

Nice post matt... really nice post. Fortunately, I think these freaks are a very minuscule minority.

They are miniscule, but they can be very dangerous. One of my accounts is one of their targets, and when their activity is up, so is our threat level. Sadly, hatred and racism will always be a part of humanity. It's demonism Dave referred to in a previous post.

I can't agree with all of you more. Very well said. I am probably geographically closest to them. We to the south don't much accept the panhandle as part of Idaho. We call it east Washington. It is the only part of Idaho that is in the Pacific time zone. That said, They are one of them most dangerous groups in America. Sure, watch out for some radical Islam cell, but these are the people that life means nothing to them. They will kill a child and not bat an eye. We don't have any of them down here, they wouldn't last long. Coeur d'alene is as liberal as Seattle is. So, don't ever turn your back on this group, I am willing to bet (not really, I don't bet) that they will commit acts in the future. Don't forget the lynchings of the past, or dragging a man behind a pickup.

Radical fringe groups come in many forms and have many different agends, I suppose. It is interesting, though, how when the topic is Al Queda, we always hear about what we Americans have done to "create" terrorists. How this policy or that action has served as a recruiting tool for Al Queda. By that same logic, we should also hear that our electing a black president has served as a recruiting tool for the Aryan nation and maybe we should rethink that.

Don't get me wrong, I think such a statement would be laughable. But I also think the logic that Gitmo should be closed down becuase it is a recruiting tool is the exact same logic and is also laughable.

Yes Sean, I agree. But lets keep things in proportion. Just as it is true that events or actions taken can and do encourage enlistments, such as 911 created an enlistment surge into the U.S. armed forces, it can be said to be true that abortions bring out the recruitment into the wackos that kill abortion doctors or others that work in an abortion clinic, Gitmo encourages enrolment into Al Qaeda. Regardless, these fringe groups (left or right, it doesn't mater) are evil. Evil is Evil. Lets just remember that as we fight these groups, they are Evil.
