Absolut Banned from DC Reunion?

In this image released by the Mexican advertising firm of Teran/TBWA on Monday April 7, 2008, an advertisement created for Swedish Absolut Vodka which ran in Mexico, shows a map of the border of Mexico and the United States where it stood before the Mexican-American War of 1848. The Absolut vodka company apologized for the ad campaign amid angry calls for a boycott by U.S. consumers.(AP Photo/Teran/TBWA)

RAC, YES. Absolutly no Ablolut. Vodka is Russian (my parents were teachers in Russa for 5 ro 6 years and brought some back) it is not Islandy at all. But if anyon wants to bring Vadka, NO ABSOLUT.

Oh, as far as the ad goes. Wasn't it Joanna earlier that brought up the "Fruedian Slip". Joanna is our Historian, mabey she remembers? hum, anycase, I don't think this was a Fruedian slip!

Another 25 years or so of relentless immigration, legal and otherwise along with the proud Hispanic tradition of breeding like rabbits and that IS the way the US will look.

I'm not much for Absolut anyway - I usually go for the Chopin (Poland) or Hanger 1 (California).

I did have some awesome vodka in Vegas called Glacier vodka. It is made in Idaho, but they don't have much market penetration. I can't find it anywhere localy.

Hey, DRL, can you help a guy out?

Drink talk aside - it is good to see we're getting into some meaty conversation on the blog. I'm sure we'll have some interesting chats at the reunion this summer.

Just some topics . . .

There are Mexican groups dedicated to "reconquista" of the USA, in fact that is the name of the organization.

Mexico does not have to invade us under force of arms, they simply have to "generate" enough US voters.

If the Mexicans who are sneaking into the US are such good, hard workers that we are lucky to have, then what are they leaving befind in Mexico? Aren't we "guilty" of draining the best and brightest from Mexico? How about we send back all the illegals to Mexico with 10,000 in their pocket and tell them to "go and do as we do" and actually transform their country to look more like the USA? That would be quite a voting block, I imagine.

DRL said...

Sean, I will stop by the Liquor store and see if they have it. If I can find it, there will be Glacier in Vegas.

Drinking aside, in Idaho, as with most agricultural states, it is becoming more mexican than anything. I have no problem with legal imigration, none at all. but what I see is iritating. They say things like, "we do the jobs that the "White" people wont do". and that is wrong. I moved pipe, worked in the fields, and sorted spuds (sorry, potato's. sometimes spelt with an "e".). The problem with the illegals is they will do it for less. They can't complain. If they do, they get deported.
Idaho passed a law efective July 1, 2007 that states all Goverment buissness is to be done in English.

Well put, Sean. The reconquista movement can be compared to Pandora's Box. Unfortunately, now that it's open it can never again be closed.

What is it about those %&%^$# Swedes? (I'm almost ready to admit that I am ashamed 'now' that I am a majority Swede)? In WWII they gave into Hitler, now there slapping American Citizens in the face. Spineless. I was once pround to buy Absolut, but no more.

DRL said...

Ric, it is like alot of us have said about our ancestory. We are Americans, not sweedish anymore. I wouldn't know a sweed if she (a member of the sweedish bakini sky jumping beer team) were to.......ah, where was I. Oh, We are americans. If someone we are related to from 187 years twice removed does something stupid, what is it to us. I have done much more to make you embarassed. Speaking of relations, remember our Great Grandmother is Marie Osmonds Great Grandmother, and I would still date her...shhhh, don't tell Jill.

Ric Larson said...

So now you let the 'world' know that we are related to the Osmonds! I'm sure the RAC'miester... since he lives in Utah will punch at us with this one.

Ric Larson said...

RAC, we are open to all abuse! We deserve it!

DRL said...

Ric, I am sure that RACmister knows just how HOT Marie is, infact I say WOW BABY!! If I would have to have Donnie as a brother in law, it would just give me more ammunition to poke fun at someone.

The common perception is that they are 'just willing to work for less'. But, it isn't a matter of what they are willing to do. They can work for less because they do not have the same responsibilities. They don't have to pay taxes, insure their cars, carry health insurance, etc. We could all work cheaper if we didn't have to pay for all that.

Whenever you hear about how much a head of lettuce would cost without the illegal imigrants, reply that it already does cost that much. You just don't pay it at the grocery store. You pay it in taxes. So the lettuce does cost $5 or $10 or whatever already.

I propose a true 'point of service' cost. This goes for every level of job out there. Stop subsidizing workers (i.e. entitlements), they will demand higer wages (and get them), the prices of goods will go up, but our taxes can go down. Since it is far less efficient to funnel money through the government, it will be better for everyone in the end.

No one can actually live on minumum wage or some of the lower earning jobs without some assistance from the government. All we are doing is letting the employers pay less for this labor by paying the 'rest of the salary' through other workers taxes. Enough of this!

DRL said...

Sean, as usuall, well said.
Yes, I said what is used a s an exuse for having them here (US). I should have expounded on what the cost is for them being here. I can't remember the number of Hospitalt it was, but Southern California has lost an exdrodaneraly large number of privately (Capatalism) owned Hospitals due to bankrupsy. It can be shown to be directly a result of Ilegal Alians who are unisured by choise. I heard that there are 40,000,000 unisured americans. There are 20,000,000 (estimated) illegal alians who are unisured. There Legal children are also unisured. They do not pay tax's to support the school district, but have children in the shcool's. They drive w/o insurance, or licences. Most of our munders in Idaho are by illegals fighting amongst each other. I do not believe that our taxs will ever go down (that is not how any politition works), but the money could go to better spent ventures to help those who need it, and to those who pay into it!

The problem with politicians is that they keep getting re-elected. The old agage of "better the devil you know" must be thrown out.

A challenger for an office has positions and promises to run on. An incumbent also has a record. It should not be an advantage to have a record, particularly if you don't agree with their record.

Don't re-elect anyone, unless they really are doing the job you expect from them.

Sean said...

As for not deporting them - how is Mexico ever going to get better if we keep importing their people who send money back to Mexico?

There's no reason why Mexico cannot enjoy the same success as we do. There only have to DECIDE to do so. They have good land, resources, tourism, etc. enough to make this happen. They simply don't have the will to make the change.

There's nothing special about America. We aren't based on a particular race or ethnic group, we don't have money flowing out of the ground, we simply have decided to live and govern ourselves in a particular way. This can be embraced anywhere is a people choose to do so.

Since I am in the medical field I see the results on illegals in the healthcare system. Many if not most of the Obstetricians left Arizona because if they wanted to have hospital rights (to birth their patients babies) then they also had to take on the illegal’s that were not their patients, in which they wouldn't get paid. How many doctors do you know went to 12 years of medical school, to get out and do charity work? Premed students are on the decline in this country. Which opens another can of worms---> socialized healthcare.

Saw an interesting piece on the news the other night. Seems that some of the more notorious latin gangs are now in the habit of sending a select few of their members off to the marines. These guys then serve their tour while learning advanced weaponry & combat techniques then return to their gangs to spread their newly found knowledge.
Relaxed recruitment standards apparently are making it easier for non-citizen gang members with criminal records to enlist. There are houses in Bagdad with gang graffitti spray painted on the sides, including MS 13 the Guatemalan based gang that is renowned for its routine heinous acts of public mayhem.
I'd be one of the first to proudly proclaim the US for its proud heritage of being one big fat melting pot. Our greatest strength lies in our diversity and immigrants from all walks have contributed to this multiculturalism. I get the sneaking suspicion that some of this crop of latest arrivals do not have the best interest of the republic at heart and that they have little or no intention of bettering themselves through honest enterprise and hard work.

Sean said...

The American melting pot is truly a great thing - there is nothing like it anywhere else in the world. It has allowed us to really become one nation.

The problem is some groups aren't interested in melting any more. Hence the spanish language everywhere, the sensitivity to all cultures (except American), the sensitivity to all religions (except Judeo Christian) and the general sense of entitlement.

Hmm - on that posting right before this one - is that a Mexican Chihuahua and an American Saxony Duck?

rac said...

They say some of the best conversations happen over a drink. Who would have thought it would be in this context?

I would have to agree the Mexican gangs are the scariest part of all this. They make the old school Crips and Bloods look pretty mild.

***ATTENTION***!!! RAC,Doug and Ric. Stop packing your bags. I am so sorry to be the one to tell you. After extensive study and begging, I have detumined that you do accually need a Medical Degree to be a Gynocologist. With Juls, and thank you Juls for the info, but with Juls alert to the masive exidous of OB/GYN's from the state of Arizona, we can't even volonteer our services. I told them that I am not a Doctor, but I do play Doctor at home, they stated that an acctual Deploma was neccicary to practice Medicine. I cried myself to sleep, and am now warning you too. I hope you have not gotten your tickets.

Oh and to put my 2 cents in gang wise. My 14 yr old was suspended Monday for 3 days. His teacher caught him drawing a "crown". After a little digging and talking to a smart counselor, I found out the "crown" thing was a gang thing. they take anything gang related VERY serious in the schools here. I know Marty is not in a gang, But even if he's a wannabe, I wanna know.
He's not on vacation, here at home, I'm enjoying watching him clean the kitty litter box, wash the dishes....etc. etc.

Pat, you're boy was just coppy catting. They do it all the time here.Letting him do chores will probably help him. The other day a boy chucked his fries and ketchup at my daughter. When I saw the boy, I almost felt sorry for him.He didn't know how to say sorry.Yet, I made sure his parents knew what happened:)

DRL (Dave), sorry I have not called you in a while, been going through a 'Medicaid audit' at the office.

Ric, it is all good. I think of calling you and notice the time. it is passed your bed time. Talk to me later bro

DRL said...

RAC, I'll have what they are having. Oh, yea.

Hey, up here we have a saying. "You always bring 2 Mormons fishing with you. If you just bring one, he will drink all your beer".

Joanna said...

drl, why's that?

DRL said...

Joanna, it is because when you have 2, they try to keep up apperances and wont drink. If you are alone, they will be themself and drink all the beer. Inactive Mormons are called "Jack Mormons". Many of them only act like they should when other Mormons are around.
They have "The Peral of Great Price", "Doctrin and Covinents", "Book of Mormon" and "Words of Wisdom" that all determine what they can and can't have or do. This included drinking things such as Alchihol, Caffine, or anything detrimental to there health.

DRL said...

Sorry for the long lecture.

Oh I forgot, when a friend of mine would go out do have what they shouldn't, they would say. "I am going out to break the 'Words of wisdom'".

Joanna said...

Wow,I didn't know that. Then again, I've been called the naive police or just plain ignorant(not knowing). I went to this huge church and my daughter saw snow, tried snowboarding and iceskating there at the festival.I just thought what a neat place...didn't know, must use a lot of breath mints in that state:)

DRL said...

Joanna, the big church you saw, was probably the "Temple" in Salt Lake City. Temple Square is a nice place to visit. The Tabernacle where the "Mormon Tabernacle Choir" sings and that massive pipe orgin is.

Joanna said...

That was the place. I'll ask my friend who buddy passed me there...flight attendant:) It was very beautiful,a world different from Guam.
