Thing that makes you go "hmm"

"The awarding of earmarks to private companies is the single most corrupting element of this practice, as witnessed by some of the indictments and convictions we have seen" - Obama on signing the omnibus bill.

Yet, when it comes to the MASSIVE stimulus bill, this is aparently not an issue. Billions will, in fact, be awarded to private companies who support the liberal agenda. Energy companies (I thought they were evil), software companies, construction companies, the teachers and universities. How is this any different? Oh, wait, they are doing what's best for us so it is all right.

The difference is this, if it is the conservitives it is evil, if it is the liberals it is good goverment.
Ted Kennedy killed a lady while driving drunk. He remained in office. But, when George Bush was convicted of drunk driving before ever entering office, the dems said that he should not be President.
Double standards make me go, hmmmmm

I am not surprised at all. Did you notice that the signing of the 'bill' was behind closed doors, off camora, right/just after the Prez scolded earmarks?

Liberalism = Stateism = Federal Government knows best.

You have very little real influence over the federal government. You have somewhat more over the state and much more over your local government. Where do you think decisions should really be made? Why should states send money to Washington only to beg (or earmark) for it back?

We have forgotten what the constitution does - limit the powers of the federal government. That's the entire purpose of the document. But, we don't read it, don't know what it says and don't seem to care when the feds "assume" more and more power over our lives.

Does anyone really believe that a small handfull of people in Washington really know what's best for your town or state? The federal government really has no power over the states. It was never intended to. Rather, it is a FEDERATION OF STATES and should take care of the interactions between states and between nations. That's it.

Not take care of our medical bills, ensure we save for retirement, take from one state and give to another. All of this is BS - they have no authority to do so, except through our silent consent.

Doug, 'crop circles' dude? Now you must be infiltrating my mind thoughts? I love researching this kind'a stuff. Crop Circles, Carriages-of -Fire, Spooks (things that go knocking in the night), Angels, little green dudes (I don't believe in the gray ones... heheheheh)! Have my own share of experiences. But I guess that is another thread?
