Yes Sean, I too must be pathetic. But at least I have an excuse this time, I am on-call this weekend and have nothing better to do until my next call. ;)

Hey I resemble that remark, wait I mean resent.Haha but you know it is Saturday night. I don't go to the bars anymore. So might as well kick it with friends and mix it up.
And yea, Good night Sean.

Good point Matt! Who needs to go to bars anymore when you can enjoy you favorite beverage at home and shoot the defecation (s**t) with you buddies on-line! Yeah baby!

Sean, itis 12:10, yep, Sunday morning and I am a pathetic looser. Joanna, you can plagerize that. Oh yes, our Vise President had to drop out of a Presidental race for plagerizing. Do any Obama supporters remember that?
I will try to look it up and post it if you don't remember it.

Cindy said...

Geez you guys...maybe you all are not into going to the bars any more but you all ARE married. What about spending Sat nights romancing the wife?????

mat said...

On the blog, spelling is reallynot that important (unless you just want to be plain old anal) , so long as you can understand what the person meant to write. (Now in a professional setting, that is where and why we have administrative assistance's). What I find amusing is that some of us can joke about our fellow blogger's misspelling, while others need to learn to get over misspelled words. Remember folks, there is no correlation between bad spelling and intelligence . And the latest study I read suggested that bad spellers are usually smarter than there counter parts that spell correctly all the time. Sean and DRL, it's OK to misspell, only proves that you think faster than you can write (unlike some others), ergo, i.e., hence, therefore, constituently you two must hold quite high IQ's! ;)

Well, mean while, me and Mat will continue to mispel, drink a few brewski's and enjoy the blogging! Hehehehe!

Doug said...

Well then I guess that makes me an anal retentive dumbass.
One or two questions though. What if your administrative assistant is a poor speller?
Did this study correlating greater intellect with lack of spelling acumen have any spelling errors? Not for nothing but it just seems like the author would have wanted to throw in an occasional butchered word to lend some credibility to his thesis. Otherwise the reader might be inclined to think that well this study has no misspellings in it this guy according to his own study must not be very smart. Or maybe his study is flawed. Maybe he himself sucked as a speller and he was compensating.
I once read a "study" (not by choice) written by a British meteorologist that postulated the reason that thunderstorms turned tornadic almost solely in the North American domain was because we drove on the right side of the road. For whatever it's worth I can recall no obvious misspellings.

Doug said, "Well then I guess that makes me an anal retentive dumbass". I respond, "Doug, likewise, I know you know how to use spell-check on this blog (where as some of us don't). And no sir, you are not a dumbass, nor did I imply that. Rather I consider you quite intelligent!

Doug also said, "What if your administrative assistant is a poor speller"? I respond, "mine has spell check on her computer, and a degree in English Literature". But most administrative assistants wouldn't be there unless they could spell or know proper grammar. ;) You da man Sir Doug!

mat said...

Hahahaha again. Are you serious guys? We're getting into serious discussions about who spells better? Sheesh.Focus people.Lets stir some shit up already.

Ric Larson said...

I know Mat, I know that I should know better! But 'Spell Check' is like the most important thing in the world to some people, but not me, trust me dude on this one. Burn any ribs tonight with you wife's secrete sauce?

mat said...

No ribs tonight Ric.Corned beef and cabbage.Guam style. Two cans of corned beef plus one head of cabbage chopped plus one large onion chopped and mix and fry turning infrequently until slightly crusty all most like hash. Serve over steamed rice with a little soy sauce and some Tabasco and Mmm good. OK so now I'm hungry again. Damnit!

There we go again, Because I can not spell, Joanna will not respond to me??????????? And to call me a "Pathetic looser"!!!
How "loving" is that? How demeaning is it? I would bet that she talked to her own children/child that way. "I will not talk to you, until you stop the baby talk". "If you do not have a PHD in Psychology, I will not let you have breakfast, you can go to your room and read until you can spell correctly". How would it be for children if you had a "special needs child"?
Joanna, you are cruel. I have made it clear that I have a disability that does not allow me to articulate my thoughts well, and that deals with grammar and spelling. How dare you look down on me for that again!!! You have problems of you own, how would you like me to bring up things that Steve said about you????? Shut up you..............

Okay, I am calming down now. "life is good, life is fine, life is wonderful....." Yes, I am "Bob".

DRL said...

Doug,
I have said it before, I have a learning disability. I appreciate Ric's analogy. Albert Einstein was diagnosed as mentally retarded.

I was not going to bring this up, because I first of all was hoping that my sister would come to my aid as my brothers have. Desi who holds a PHD from Cornell University, was upset (in a jesting kind of way, not upset as in mad) when she found out that I have a much higher IQ than she does. I just cant use what I have, like she can. It is like laughing at a kid with Cerebral Palsy because he/she cant be apart of the cross country team at school. What a looser, cant even run the mile in 10 minutes. That is what is coming across form you Doug. I thank Ric for his relentless defence of me, but when someone has found a weakness that they can exploit for their pleasure.
Ric works with people that suffer from extreme mental problems of all kinds, and he cares deeply for them. I have seen him go to bat in many cases. He has never confided in me the exact situations, because of client confidentiality. But he is like a mother hen when it comes to those he works with. And you are acting like a marathon runner who thinks that I should keep up with you. Well I cant, and as long as you insist on degrading me in a hate based way, go ahead. I may get a hold of Desi and ask her to comment on this. She is also a pastor, and would think the demeaning manner that you and Joanna are talking down to me would upset her. But I will let her speak for herself. She may not want to get involved.
This is another double standard. Why is it okay for a liberal to debase a person on a disability. Joanna is the worst for this. If you are saying that because I am "stupid" in your eyes, I should not participate???

I am a terrible speller but I'm also smart enough to know how to use a spell-check. If you down-load the Google Tool Bar, guys, there is one right on there. If you want people to understand you, spelling does matter. When I go on internet dating sites and look at men's profiles, when there is one with terrible grammar and misspellings, I don't think "Now there's a smart guy I'd like to go out with." My (now previous) boss never uses a spell check and we often had to try to figure out exactly what she was trying to communicate, and she knew people made fun of her because we teased her often and she never changed...not a very good way to earn the respect and confidence of your employees.

DRL said...

Yea Cindy, I already know I don't have respect on here. I have Google tool bar. The IT gut put the spell check on it for me. I do not have it at home, and sometimes I forget to use it here at work. If you looked at a dating site and a guy was physically debilitated in some way, would you also not have respect for him?

Cindy said...

Just have to add.... my youngest daughter is autistic and mildly mentally retarded (she was born with an extra 1/2 of a chromosome). She loves being on the computer and she knows how to use the Spell-Check button too.

DRL said...

I know and I should learn to use the spell check better, but it don't correct grammer. Your daughter is better off than I am, I guess?

DRL said...

Oops, see I forgot to use it on the last comment, dang it anyway. Some smarter than me guru should make it automatic!
I just checked and miss spelt "smarter", ha, that's me for you. It is fixed now.

drl, You have some very serious issues. You feel like your always being attacked and need to say exactly why you think so as the victim. So sorry that you feel I'm cruel. Maybe that's why I worked with students who were extremely challenged at E. C. A. here. Never did I laugh at anyone of them unless they were laughing with me.I'll tell one of my former students what you posted. He's 18 and can very much articulate his feelings.I encouraged him to never stop no matter what. He graduated before his time to. That makes me so proud to have at least touched him and all my other students. Your thoughts are quite disturbing in that I already said that my father always corrected me and God Bless His Soul,I tend to do the same.

DRL,
scroll back through previous threads where spelling or communication skills has become a topic. I have never started it, my posts have always been in response to another. But now incredibly, my responsive post on spelling acumen is likened by you to me making fun of a kid with cerebral palsy. This is even more astounding when you consider the premise of the original post implied through somesuch study that poor spellers are "smarter" than those that excel at the practice.
Look, I don't care about your or anyone else's spelling capabilities. Getting one's point across seems to me to be the general idea. And I get your point.
