Obama Pulls Plug on NASCAR for GM and Chrysler

Car and Driver - In a move sure to spark outrage, the White House announced today that GM and Chrysler must cease participation in NASCAR at the end of the 2009 season if they hope to receive any additional financial aid from the government ... A complete withdrawal from America's premier racing series is expected to save more than $250 million between GM and Chrysler, a substantial amount considering the drastic measures being implemented elsewhere. RAC’man. I hired a former GM and Chrysler car sales man last year. Prior to selling cars, he was an IBM’er (super computer geek) of 30 years. I was only able to hire him because he had/held an undergraduate in psych.. But to get to the point, he is a NASCAR super freak! The coffee cup that he brings to work is an official NACAR coffe cup, and autographed by some famous driver. I know nothing about racecar racing myself. But know that NASCAR is almost becoming as big as the NFL.

Why?

I love the NFL~

NASCAR will never be as big as the NFL.

It doesn't really matter because once the big three start building the cars that Washington mandates, no ones gonna pay a dime to see a bunch of girly wind powered cars buzz around a racetrack anyways. Cars and racing and car shows and everything automotive related is such a cash cow and congress is to stoopid to even realize it. So what does everybody here drive anyways hmmm? This could very easily have been a news headline.Be afraid, be very afraid.
