Email Received Today

Cindy --
This weekend, our family will join millions of others in celebrating America. We will enjoy the glow of fireworks, the taste of barbeque, and the company of good friends. As we all celebrate this weekend, let's also remember the remarkable story that led to this day.

Two hundred and thirty-three years ago, our nation was born when a courageous group of patriots pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to the proposition that all of us were created equal.

Our country began as a unique experiment in liberty -- a bold, evolving quest to achieve a more perfect union. And in every generation, another courageous group of patriots has taken us one step closer to fully realizing the dream our founders enshrined on that great day.

Today, all Americans have a hard-fought birthright to a freedom which enables each of us, no matter our views or background, to help set our nation's course. America's greatness has always depended on her citizens embracing that freedom -- and fulfilling the duty that comes with it.

As free people, we must each take the challenges and opportunities that face this nation as our own. As long as some Americans still must struggle, none of us can be fully content. And as America comes ever closer to achieving the perfect Union our founders dreamed, that triumph -- that pride -- belongs to all of us.

So today is a day to reflect on our independence, and the sacrifice of our troops standing in harm's way to preserve and protect it. It is a day to celebrate all that America is. And today is a time to aspire toward all we can still become.

With very best wishes,

President Barack Obama

Yes, we were all created equal. But that doesn't mean we all live equal lives. Liberalism has developed a mantra that we all should have equal living conditions, without regard to our personal contributions or that of our parents. Liberals talk of leveling the playing field, but this isn't what they practice. What the really mean is for the final score to be equal no matter how well each of us play. Or, better yet, why keep score at all?

Yes, some of us will continue to struggle. But many more of us don't bother to struggle at all, but rather simply wait for the hand-outs and redistribution of wealth that was promised (and is being delivered) by this horrid president. His whole purpose is to bring us down. Bring down the producers and contributors in this nation. And, bring down this great nation to the level of the some of the worst countries in the United Nations.

sean, "horrid president"? I'm not as politically savvy as you, but I know a cry baby when I see one.
Get over it already.:)

Happy independence day!!!

Yeah but,not for us that are really patriotic:) Great E-mail!

Joanna - what is your definition of a patriot? Does Obama fit the bill for you?

Not all great contributors are in it for the money Sean. Money follows great initiative and invention not the other way around. There will always be someone more pathetic and less successful than yourself. I don't see how your income and standard of living is going to be so changed that you need all this stress.

Juliet - doesn't everyone deserve the chance to succeed of fail on their own merits? When you relieve someone of the burden of failure, you are also eliminating any chance of real success.

If you go to work everyday and don't call in sick even if you can and give 100 percent and are paying your taxes. And gas up your car every couple days(and pay that tax as well)are you not "contributing" and "helping out"?Just wondering.

This is a great post. What does everybody do anyway to make life better for the less fortunate?Hmmm?

Well, for starters Mat, I look out for my future children/grandchildren, by recycling, reusing, reducing. And I don't dump my motor oil in the ground.

To a person on the left, the best president is the one who gives out the most free stuff, at the expense of those "paying customers."

Doug said...

Well I wish he'd give me something besides this vague feeling of impending economic calamity.
Not necessarily all his fault mind you.
But he is the guy.

You think Dave? Do you think their might possibly be some rightie peeps taking a "handout"?

Joanna said...

Sean,Someone who loves his or her country and is prepared to fight for it.

Obama does fit the bill. He's the head of this democracy and won it by a landslide. Go to CNN and watch other countries and their election processes.Old women beaten down, people killed at random, total chaos. You want to move elsewhere, well it's your choice. You have the freedom to go here.

Pat said...

okay David, I'll meet you in the bunker. I'll bring the water and beans. You got the rifle?

Joanna said...

Dave,My comment wasn't directed at you but, since you jumped in then, I can tell you what I think. My point was that we all are American citizens so,one has the choice to jump ship when your government is too much to bear. By all means ,I think people who are angered by their fellow voters and the turn out,as real as it is,should move away and never look back.N.Korea maybe?Have fun! or Iran? Choose your destination. At least you have the choice here in the U.S. of America.

No reply to that one? Think about what you have and think about where you could be right now...We are all lucky to live on "islands of democracy" that exist only in a few places on this Earth.Quit
bashing Obama and come up with intellectual responses rather than the S.O.S. It's wrong and boring to read.
