Do you believe that this government's actions are in accordance with the powers granted it in the US Constitution?

Doug said...

To which action(s) do you refer?

Sean said...

nationalize banks and auto makers

force states to accept federal dollars and control

appoint czars who are accountable to no one except the president

assume direct control of the census

direct federal dollars to political organizations (SEIU, ACORN)

fire inspector generals in without due notice to congress

Doug, before you say it, I don't think that this is the first administration or congress to step over the line. We've been on the other side of that line for decades. What I do see is a massive, coordinated effort to push us right over the cliff into something that is no longer America.

You either agree or disagree that this is happening.

If you agree that it is happening, then you either agree or disagree (or simply do not care) that it happening.

Each of these is a different discussion. I'm trying to figure out which discussion we need to have.

"You either agree or disagree that this is happening."

Reminds me of that famous "you're either with us or against us" line.

Whatever happened to middle ground?

Sean said...

OK - what's your middle ground?

Sean, I know you are sincerely trying to get through to these ultra liberals, but it's like talking to a brick wall. They will oppose you and what you stand for until the day they die. We are nothing more than American sheep being led to the slaughter by our very own government.
We the sheeple.

BTW Dave, are you familiar with the works of the man portrayed in the video? Ever read his book The Age of Reason? You should. And then tell me about this great open mind you have.

As for the middle ground, I think it means not tying your personal identity to an extremist point of view; such as ultra liberal or right wing conservative. Just a thought.

It always cracks me up when conservative Christians call others sheep.

Luke 12:32 - "Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom."

...nationalize banks and auto makers...
Forgive my ignorance, but what bank has been "nationalized".

...force states to accept federal dollars and control...
it is my understanding that any state is free to refuse the federal stimulus dollars if this what to which you refer. As far as federal control, well one might say that the issue of the state being subordinate to the federal was pretty much settled with the conclusion of the Civil War.

...appoint czars who are accountable to no one except the president...
who else would they be accountable to? As the lawfully elected chief executive the President is fully within his right to appoint those that he feels will enable the faithful execution of his duties. It is what is sometimes referred to as "the bully pulpit".

...assume direct control of the census...
guess I have to work on a different disguise.

...direct federal dollars to political organizations (SEIU, ACORN)...
Where exactly in our founding document does it say that he cannot do this? I'm not trying to be an ass here.

...fire inspector generals in without due notice to congress...
Well you're right and he should have told Congress before the firing. It would not have mattered as there wasn't a thing they could have done about it but would have saved congressional ego.

"...You either agree or disagree that this is happening.

I have read this over and over and you will forgive me if I'm missing your point. Let me close by saying that I look forward to further discussion once we figure out which different discussion we need to discuss further.

Awwww Dave I always knew you were a "lamb chop."

Pat said...

Juliet, Dave's not a lambchop. That's my cats name and he's fluffy, soft, lovable and fat. (Dave may fit into one of those categories though)

Dave said...

You know, I am kind of fluffy..

juliet said...

awwww really Pat how can you resist.

I'm just trying to get the nurses where I work to do hand hygiene and wear the proper PPE when taking care of patients with the flu...and they ignore me. It's all I'm capable of dealing with now so if the country goes under because I didn't do more, I'm really really sorry.

It could be interesting this Winter.
While still relatively mild this strain of flu is showing higher rates of lethality among certain groups. Late term pregnant women and younger to middle aged adults.
Wash your hands you friggin' heathens.
