Dear Mr. President

At the risk of stirring up more trouble I'm reposting the previous video that made some others so angry with me. I'm terrible at conflict, always the peace-maker, always the care-taker, and my first response at the sign of attack is to run like hell in the other direction. But I guess at 50 I need to start doing a better job of standing up for myself. Thanks little brother RAC for making me see that.

I didn't make the video, it was posted on Youtube and the artist singing the song is "Pink". I thought it was fitting on the 5th anniversary of the War to help remind us to ask "Where are we for all the sacrifice?" in this war that has lasted longer than World War I, World War II, or the Civil War. I'm a pretty liberal, open minded person who enjoys hearing all view points and respects others rights to have beliefs that are different than my own. I credit my dad and our travels with instilling in me a love of learning and questioning. Just for the record, I love my country, I have a US flag in my front yard, and Service Flag for my stepson hanging in my window. I did encourage Karl to join the Army and I'm very proud of him. I sent many Care packages to him while he was serving in Iraq and I grieve for what he had to go through and witness while he was there. He will be going back in December. To be honest, I'm a busy, working mom and I admit that I'm not all that knowledgeable about all the politics involved. This is personal for me because I love Karl and I want him to be here to be a husband and a dad to his two kids, along with being the proud soldier he always dreamed about being. It's as simple as that.

Also in my opinion, the blog could get kind of stale if we limit our discussions to sex, boobs, zoophilia, vibrators and old photos..although I have very much enjoyed all those postings too.

Ric and DRL, I welcome you to please post your original comments...I'm happy to listen to all opinions and not run off with my tail between my legs this time.

Cindy, Drl and all, I say all thoughts and opinions are respectfully accepted here. I for one like to see more diverse discussions on the blog as well.

I like Guamanian food. Thank you all for talking about the war, but since war is hell and hell is fire, I'm thinking more and more about the fire that is going to cook the chicken and red rice at Vegas Baby! Matt, you are my true hero. Anyone who volunteers to serve his fellow Dean's Circle citizens by cooking chamoru food for us, deserves a medal. You are all great Americans, but coming the last weekend in July, we will all still be one big happy chamoalie family ...right?? So again, thank you all for your service to this country, but can we please get back to the main menu for a minute? Tell me again about the food Matt, I can taste it in my dreams. If nothing else, we can go have a fiesta at Juliet's Guam Hafa Adai restaurant. The only Guamanian Restaurant in Las Vegas, who specialize in red rice, chicken & Shrimp kiliguean, lechon, home made Guamanian pastries, island fiesta b'bque pastries, such as empanandas, pigigi, flour tortillas, buchi.gulay hagon suni (taro leaves) laticha (banana leaves. And other authentic, Guamanian, Filipino, & Chamorro specialties. We offer: breakfast, lunch, & dinner buffet. food-to-go, catering for special occasions. Come see why people love this place. Located in Ste 31. There, that being said...carry on.

Clearly we are a divided group. I read all of the postings tonight and I must say I was intimidated to say anything. It's refreshing and stimulating to see what shapes our thoughts and convictions. Hmmm, what a bunch of teacher's kids. So, please don't judge me if my opinion is a bit simple.

The reality is this...whether you voted for, respect or agree with President Bush...at least he did something. We were attacked, it was scary, it will happen again. Those people do not respect human life. They do not want to sit down and chat and find a peaceful solution to our differences. If they did they would not have murdered 3,000 innocent people. They are a patient, calculating, evil and well funded group and they will attack again.

Isolationism was our response to Hitler and we all know the results of that. Yeah...war sucks and it hurts. This war has not been easy and it seems like a heavy price to pay. But to sit still and do nothing is lunacy and invites evil to dwell and flourish among us.

All that being said, Cindy, will you still room with me?

Of course my friend..we've always known we're very different..me the "hippy chick" at heart, you the true "California girl" Our friendship has endured many differences over the years including you thinking I fooled around with your boyfriend, you teasing me about recycling, You thinking that shirt I lent you in Florida being too old-grannyish, and my jealously over the fact that you own 20 Coach purses and I have none..lol But the things we always agree on is our love of shopping and the value of our friendship. I promise everyone that I won't be discussing any controversial topics in Vegas...only there to have great time with you all , and yes Dave, EAT.

I've never seen that video until tonight.Heart wrenching. After 9/11,I wanted to join up with the National Guard so bad. I was terrified from here watching CNN live. Some people here couldn't relate.I didn't know anybody but, it hurt to see the U.S. under attack. Enough said.Like Dave said earlier, let's focus on where and when we'll eat Chamorro food in Vegas Baby!!!

Cindy I can't imagine you not sticking up for yourself. Do you remember once Ben called you a W----, and you came down really mad to my house and told my father. My father who despite his many faults never swore, yelled at Ben and chased him into his back bedroom with a belt. You could hear the belt hitting and Ben yelping. I went to the back and was so upset over the domestic violence, only to see Ben cracking up as my dad hit bed with the belt and Ben faking the yelp. I am not sure what the value of that lesson was for Ben, but you looked vindicated. Do you remember that incident?

Someone should call that Las Vegas Guam food place to see if it really exsits and to get a price list. Since you all are only meeting for a few days it might be easier to get them to do the majority of the food and then just make a few dishes together, like the margaritas sans Tuba. If I was going I wouldn't want to be anywhere near a kitchen.

Becky,
reading your post I cannot fathom why you would feel intimidated to respond. Your words are well structured and are engaging to read. Teachers kids, yep that sums it up as well as anything.
Please all of you be secure in the knowledge as I am that our love for each other far trancends any difference of opinion.
Happy Easter everyone!
