When Insults Had Class

In the mid- to late-1800s, British Parliament members William Gladstone and Benjamin Disraeli not only belonged to opposing political parties, they disliked each other intensely. One day, while Gladstone was giving a major speech on some issue near and dear to him, Disraeli was kibitzing throughout the speech, drawing laughter from the Parliament members. Aware of this, Gladstone was getting angrier and angrier until he could no longer hold his temper. Pointing directly at Disraeli, Gladstone angrily exclaimed: "You, Sir, will either die in the hangman's gallows or of some unspeakable disease!" Disraeli was on his feet in an instant and replied: "Only, Sir, if I embrace either your policies or your mistress."

There's nothing that gets people more riled up than talking politics. DRL, I too have had the pleasure of experiencing Juliet's wrath, for my 30 years of war-mongering and speech oppression, and for serving under the Bush administration. But you know what, I still love her like a sister and value her opinions, just as much as I do all of the rest of you. That is the essence of what makes America great. We are all individuals, yet we are one.

So...I'm guessing this wouldn't be the appropriate time for me to remind you how much you suck. That goes for you too Larson.

I know, and I love all you too. "Hate me for what I am, not what I do to you", or something like that. and RAC, I prommise not to hold your misstress because I am alergic to goat hair.

DRL said...

Juliet, lets drink to that!

Is there ever an appropriate time to kick someone in the nuts? Hell yes, and it's usually when they least expect it.

And not to worry, DRL, I keep my goat well groomed.

Cheers Juliet

Cheers my ass.. I'm gonna start our vegas vacation by kicking Doug in the nuts then barbequing RACs goat. After that we'll have the most miserable political discussion you can imagine, with Juliet on a conference call. Its time to take the gloves off baby, just like in the old days. After all, what else are good friends for besides a good smackdown now and then? Take that to the bank Macdonald.

I loved that

Now, that's what I'm talking about.

hahahaha, Dave. Well, that's the Dave I know,I was starting to worry that that retirement gig was affecting your fighting spirit. Skip the call, anything I have to say is free on the Internet.

Dave, I agree with Juliet on this one.The younger Dave just popped out. I feel for Doug and the goat though, but I'd like to watch:)Oh and we aren't any older just more layers. Not from Shrek either. I learned that in Psychology class.

Hey look at the time, it's Easter back on the old homestead.

Yes Doug, I just got off the phone with an old classmate of ours, Chris Franquez, he's in Guam , it's 0930 Easter morning there and he's getting ready to start the fire for bar-b-que..ribs and chicken..I asked if I could come over...lol

Joanna said...

Cindy,my sister Alice thought that meeting here would be better.Yet she said the expense for you all in the states would be hard to fly out to Guam. I can definitely understand that...Dave and his family might fly out:) I can only hope.

Great, a political showdown...I' going to start DRINKING now, just to get warmed up..Dave, you Pansy, you'd better loosen up, and be ready to PARTY..RAC, this goes for you too..
NEED I SAY MORE???

juliet said...

Rod's right, now I know where those drill sargents get the term "girlie boys" haahahaha much too tame these days. Or Rod, maybe they are just older and wiser and know when to pick their battles.

Joanna there is no way I can make it to Vegas especially now that I need some backers to help protect RAC goat. We need Janet Tansy.

Really I would love to come but we live on a tight schedule and my younger son will be home from college then. probably one of the last times with him for a long while. I'll catch the next one.

Cindy said...

The next one definitely has to be on Guam.

Doug said...

So what's a call to Guam cost these days anyway? We should call Ben...collect...during peak business hours.

Joanna said...

Juliet, I understand. Family is so precious.Doug, from here it would cost about 2 grand or more to Vegas. Try and see how much it would be for you to come here...I heard it's less expensive because not to many statesider's want to fly to Guam. Hey, I love your comments, short, sweet and to the point. That is hard to find. You remind me of my Palaun Brother Link!!!

Doug said...

It's about 2 Grand & 18 hours from Tallahassee via Continental. I love Palau by the way.

rac said...

Joanna, we had a Palauan student live with us named Pelican George. He had a friend named Link. I wonder if it's the same guy. You should ask him.
